Confused re NDT

Hi all, if you take NDT, I'd appreciate knowing this: does the NDT preparation you take list T3 (triiodothyronine) as a component? My internet searches for 'naturally desiccated thyroid' seem to always pull up products that say "does not contain thyroxine T4"... So I'm thinking, if it's indeed just dried thyroid powder, how could it not contain T4? Guess I am confused about NDT, bottom line. If you could school me -and also maybe inbox me about which brand of NDT you've found that works for you- I'd really appreciate it, thanks.

NDT - Natural Desiccated Thyroid - should list the hormone content. They are all mentioned in this article:

Those that say no hormone content are probably thyroid glandulars which are made from whole thyroid glands and sold as food supplements with no declared hormone content or "Thyroid Support" (we should avoid anything that says thyroid support).

Prescription NDT contains between 8 and 9 mcg of t3 per grain depending on the brand. Armour & Naturethroid for instance contain 9 mcg per grain, as does Thyroid-S. Erfa contains slightly less (8.31 mcg per grain), and also slightly less T4 (35 mcg/gr vs 38 for Armour&NT&TS). Only glandulars cannot have their hormone content listed or they could not be sold as supplements.

All prescription brands of NDT (as well as Thai NDT - Thyroid-S and the new Tru Thyroid) contain standardised amounts of T3 and T4 that should be stated on the bottle and also be available on the manufacturer´s website.
