Thyroid-s

I have been taking 1.75 thyroid-s and discovered when I had Monitor- my -health check That I have been overmedicated. Would it be alright to cut back to 1.00 thyroid-s for a bit and then go back on levo?. Unfortunately I spent a lot of money in amassing a stock of thyroid-s before I discovered it just didn't suit me!!!

Reductions are by a quarter grain/tablet so I would cut back by that slowly every 2 weeks or slower.

I am sure there are folks who could use your over supply!

I would willingly share "over supply" but the NDT alas appears to be a mistake for me and I would not like anyone to end up as I am at the moment. Will reduce slowly if I can be patient but it's not in my nature and I am even more "agitated" now of course!

Hey there again

Presumably you didn't have these symptoms on the lower dose of the Thyroid S - as why would you have increased to 1.75 :

Just reduce back down slowly, to the dose you were on before hand, at no more than a 1/4 of a grain at a time, which is the way you should have increased, and leave a good week between the adjustments.

Actually yes I did but the main reason I increased was my eyelashes were growing back (after many a long year) also - not that this matters- pubic hair, so I thought NDT must be doing something. Perhaps a lower dose is all that's needed I will reduce cautiously.

Yes, go slow and steady - it can take months for NDT to bed in and the improvements can be subtle and go on for months.

Initially we all go slightly over as we are not relying on blood tests to tell us if we feel well, but our bodies, and your body is telling you that you have gone too far, so just drop back down and stay there for a couple of months and be aware that the NDT is slowly reverting years of under medication and health issues.

Indeed will take it steady Maybe it's just as well as difficult to get contact with doc. Meant to ay it was my EYEBROWS (not lashes) that were growing back. Always up till now have had outer third missing but thought that was just the way I was. At least the regrowth is evidence that NDT works. Glad I'm not the only one who goes over!

Loosing the outer third of the eye brow is a very common visual symptom of hypothyroidism: I've had my eyebrows tattooed on as I looked like a suet pudding with little facial definition, and it helped build up my confidence again, though wore dark glasses because of the thyroid eye disease and swelling, which was caused by the RAI treatment that I had for Graves Disease.

If you look at the Thyroid Uk website there is so much information regarding thyroid disorders and you will learn and pick up much useful information.

I consider myself lucky that my eye brows grew back. Can't really say when they went. I am not a mirror person (Just as well)

Yes, I know that feeling, it's an insidious disease that just slowly creeps up on people rubbing away at physical, mental, psychological and emotion stability - and we all start off thinking " I just need a good night's sleep and will feel better tomorrow " .
