Hi. I've just received Tru Thyroid & I saw that a few people had started taking it a couple of months ago. How are people getting on with it, after taking it for a while. Are people happy with the results so far?

Hi Print1972, I been taking Tru thyroid for just over 6 weeks now, I’m waiting on private blood test results but I’m not feeling 100% - when my thyroid is off the first and the most noticeable symptom for me is puffiness/water retention which is what I’m feeling now. Under my eyes feel ‘watery’ I the best way I can describe it but my ankles are also puffy and I’ve gained about 10lbs in last 6 weeks - I wanted to give it a proper transition phase and swapped over from Thyrogold - I’ll wait for blood results in case I’m just under medicated before I make a decision but I’m on what I believe to be an equivalent dose so the jury is out at the moment for me.

I’ll watch this with interest, I found you’re thread because I was looking for other people’s experiences. Best wishes K

Hi Katyfow Ive done exactly the same as you swopped over from thyrogold and im meant to be on exact same dose. Been on mine for 4 weeks so will test in 3 weeks. When will you retest? Im feeling similar to you I was on 1.5 capsules of thyrold 150 mg and it cost me £50 a month so thats only reason i swopped to Tru thyroid so could save money.

Hi Blackpanther46, I just retested on Wed last week which would’ve been just over 6 weeks - I’m hoping to get the results either today or tomorrow but I’ll update when I do. I’m certainly not feeling 100% at the moment so I’m eagerly awaiting the tests to get a bit of data about whats going on.

4 grains (8 1/2 tablets of the tru thyroid). Just over 6 1/2 weeks when I tested.

Hi. Let me know how the results go. I've been on them a few weeks & don't feel great. Really hard to get the dose right on these.

Hi Katyfow have you had your results yet?

katyfow in reply toBlackpanther46

Hiya, no sorry, I’m really frustrated but Medichecks say they still haven’t received the sample so are sending out another kit today - the thing is because I was feeling so awful I started taking thyrogold again while waiting for my results - now when I take the next sample it’s not going to be as useful from a data point of view re. Tru thyroid. It’s just one of those things but annoying timing 😔

Blackpanther46 profile image
Blackpanther46 in reply tokatyfow

Oh no how frustrating it’s strange they didn’t receive the kit did u send as recorded delivery? I sent mine off with that and they replied in few days wonder why they didn’t get it .

Well I’m doing one soon on Tru thyroid so hopefully that will help a bit. Thyrogold worked well for me but expensive

I’ll go back on though if Tru hasn’t worked.

katyfow profile image
katyfow in reply toBlackpanther46

No I just send it back in the pre-paid envelope, I put in the priority post box on the next street 🙄 Yes it was the expense of thyro gold that led me to buy Tru and whilst I expected a bit of up and down whilst I titrated the dose it seems miles off from the symptoms I’ve been having. The last time I was so puffy was when I was first diagnosed after having my first baby and my tsh was >200. I’ll do the next set of bloods, whilst switching back to thyro will have muddied the waters, if my T levels we’re getting really low on Tru as I suspect they might be, a week on Thyro still won’t have them back at optimal I guess.

Blackpanther46 in reply tokatyfow

I would send the next one as recorded delivery incase it disappears again !! Bad it has though ! Shame it’s been like that for you aswell as having horrible symptoms! X

Hi How are you feeling now what grains are you on?

Print1972 profile image
Print1972 in reply toBlackpanther46

So so. Not 100%. Although I've not slept much in the last week, as my rooms like a sauna, so that's not helping. I'll let you know when I've had some decent sleep when the weather cools down.

Could you please tell me if 300mg of Thyrogold is equivalent to 100mg of levothyroxine? I was on 2 grains of Thiroyd from Thailand but they stopped producing it. I want to try Thyrogold but I don't know about the dosage. But previosuly I was on 100mg of levothyroxine. I appreciate your help.

Blackpanther46 profile image
Blackpanther46 in reply toNataliAAA

Hi I was told that 300mg thyrogold is about 2 grains. Its a glandular so its not exact. It worked well for me but the cost of tru is a lot cheaper so thats why i swopped.

katyfow profile image
katyfow in reply toNataliAAA

Hi NataliAAA apologies for the delay in getting back to you. It’s tricky to know with Thyrogold as it’s sold as a nutritional supplement I believe there isn’t a definitive answer anywhere but I would agree with Blackpanthers answer below - I was taking 2 x 300g where I had previously taken 4 grains of Thiroyd - I found this blog page helpful when I was first working out what to buy thyroidpaul.com/the-amount-...

Hi... When i was in Bangkok in late 2019, i managed to get one of the last remaining bottles of Thiroyd. I went to Greater Pharma and was told that they would no longer be producing it. Gutted was an understatement because i did so well on Thiroyd. Then i heard about Tru Thyroid. Let me tell you that these are nothing more than sawdust made into pills. I tried these for about 6 months. I gained about 12kg and my TSH shot up to 11! My hair began to thin and all the usual hypo symptoms started. I increased from

4 tablets to 6 and give it 2 more months. Sadly, today my TSH came back as 16! So these pills are a fraud. I have switched back to synthetic t3/t4. Already i am feeling more balanced.

Question is, what the fudge do these pills contain? To anyone who is considering buying these tablets - DON’T BOTHER!!!!

Hi Everyone,

For completeness I’m just adding my latest blood results - unfortunately my first set of bloods got lost in the post so I had to reorder and retest about a week later - because I’d been feeling so ill after 6 weeks on Tru thyroid when I sent off my initial bloods set of bloods I restarted taking Thyrogold again - therefore the results I’m posting here are after being back on 2x300mcg Thyrogold for a week (As you’ll see from earlier in the thread I was taking 8 tablets of Tru thyroid and not feeling well.

My latest bloods are as follows:

TSH: 0.379

(0.27 - 4.2 R)

mIU/L

FREE T3: 7.35

(3.1 - 6.8 R)

pmol/L

FREE THYROXINE: 10.3

12 - 22 R

It’s difficult to conclude anything meaningful from these tests because of the mix of medication - although the t4 being under range is potentially significant in terms of not having much t4 built up in the bloods despite being on Tru for 6 weeks - that is consistent with me feeling under medicated. The over range T3 I suspect is from the week of taking Thyrogold as I had an over range result from Thyrogold prior trying Tru. The results make me wonder how much t4:T3 is present in Tru and/or whether it is just not very potent/well absorbed by me for some reason.

Moving forward I plan to stick with Thyrogold reducing my dose slightly to bring my T3 down into range and taking some t4 to bring that up.

Thanks

Katy

Sorry Katy I didn’t see this till now the T3 is high but could it have gone that high that quickly on thyrogold ? How do you feel ? Sounds like thyrogold is better then doesn’t it. Lots of people haven’t done well in Tru have they I’m getting my results back Tuesday so I’ll let you know x

Blackpanther46 profile image
Blackpanther46 in reply tokatyfow

Sounds like a good plan reducing thyrogold they say that 150 mg of thyrogold is the same as 1 1/4 grains on STTM website .

therefore your on 5 grains with thyrogold and you was only on 4 grains with the Tru ! It’s possible you wasn’t taking high enough dose of Tru then and needed to increase xx

katyfow profile image
katyfow in reply toBlackpanther46

Yeah it’s possible I needed an increase but for the T4 to be below range would indicate I needed a fair bit more I guess? I’m not sure if the T3 would raise that quickly in the blood, it’s fast/short acting isn’t it so possibly? I’m still not feeling great, exhausted and puffy still but I feel slightly better thank you. The Thyrogold is definitely more expensive it would be about £100 for 2 bottles (minimum order) plus shipping which would last approx 3 months. It’s such a shame it hasn’t worked, hopefully it’ll be more successful for other people, I’ll be interested to hear about your results. Good luck!

Blackpanther46 profile image
Blackpanther46 in reply tokatyfow

Have u ever had both antibodies tested incase of hashimotos? Seems odd your T3 is that high but you feel so puffy /tired. Why don’t you put your results on main forum and ask others to interpret them like Seaside suzie or Greygoose they know a lot and especially more than I do so could explain the height T3 and low T4 and your symptoms xx

katyfow profile image
katyfow in reply toBlackpanther46

Yeah I have, I just did full panel including antibodies right before I started a Tru and they were virtually 0 (although I know they can fluctuate) and Greygoose and Seaside Susie have been great at answering earlier posts and questions. I suspect that although the T3 was quite high it was probably only from the week I’d been taking the Thyrogold again and not necessarily reflective of levels within tissues because I’d spent the 6 weeks prior to that on Tru only feeling progressively worse and probably pretty under medicated going off how I felt x

Katy I have been reading this thread as I am about to run out of thiroyd and start on Tru. Just wondering if you took your meds on the morning of the test? At least your TSH is still nice and low. Keep us updated!! Thanks

katyfow profile image
katyfow in reply toreliablerebel

Hi Reliablerebel, no I didn’t take my meds before testing, it’s also probably a really skewed result due to me taking Thyrogold for a week prior to testing (full explanation in thread above but my bloods taken after 6 weeks on Tru only we’re lost) - I’d be amazed if my TSH was that low when I was on Tru because I felt so ill. I’m only just starting to feel a bit better now. BlackPanther also posted her results which will give a clearer picture but they weren’t great either. Good luck with your switch, I would advise being cautious because I’ve read quite a few peoples experiences which were similar to mine unfortunately.

Hi I have also been taking tru and feeling so awful I have had to add 75 levo to the 7 tru I have been taking for about 8wks. I personally think tru is fake if I'm honest. Which is awful as I bought over £200 worth of them.

hornehfrog profile image
hornehfrog in reply toweedodos

Yes I think they are fake too. Its horrible that this company is scamming people who had been loyal customers just for a quick buck. I was on Tru for about a month and gained 10 pounds and couldn't even function like I was on Thyroid S. I don't have insurance so I don't get tested but I go on how I feel. And I'm actually scared to think exactly whats in the Tru pills. They need to be shut down
