Pregnant-can’t get hold of ndt

Hello, I’m on back order for some NDT. My issue is that I’m pregnant in my first trimester and about to run out. It leaves me at risk of miscarriage. Any suggestions for alternatives or well just any advice? Thanks

Some members have tried Metavive and some seem to be doing OK with it. Metavive is not NDT, it's a thyroid glandular with no declared hormone content, so it may or may not be right for you, but worth a try if you can't get NDT.

Thank you, I see that it’s quite easily available. There is also some good info on dr my hills site regarding its efficacy which is good to see :)

I feel for you. I’m with Seaside Susie. I take Metavive and it’s easy to get quickly. If you message me with your current dose I’ll work out the equivalent in Metavive (not official information but I have reason to believe it is correct).

Thank you. I’ve found it on line and I think it may be a good short term solution :)

Let me know if you need help working out how much to take. It is not measured in grains.

Yes it does a little complicated! Thank you :)

Have you thought of thyrovanz or thyrogold? You could email them to ask for your particular dose, I know one of those two sites has dosing info on how to switch over. I’ve used both, I think thyrovanz might be a little stronger, thyrogold has some additional ingredients whereas thyrovanz is just hormone.

No someone just mentioned those in a pm too so I’ll look them up, thank you. Glad to see some new options!

I haven't had any children because dealing with hypothyroidism is like a full time job in addition to my already full time job. I can't imagine children added to the mix!! This is a scenario I've often thought about because recently I switched from Levothyroxine to NDT, although not very successfully. I have read that in the first three months your baby relies heavily upon your T4 because it cannot produce its own until three months. If I were in your shoes I would get to the Dr asap to get some extra T4 added to the mix, for your baby. I hate taking T4 only meds because I had higher levels of T4 and "low normal" T3 levels but if I got pregnant I would take more T4 for my baby. Then when you get your NDT perhaps you can lower the T4 a little. I'm not a medical expert but that's how I would proceed.

Oh bless you! Don’t give up hope! I’m stable with mine. I was on thiroyd for years, then recently switched to thyroid s and I feel a lot better. So much so that just before I became pregnant I had completed couch to 5k and can now consistently exercise and feel good. I haven’t been able to do that for 7 years! Thanks for the t3/4 info etc. Luckily I have a good nhs endo (Salford royal) so I’m hoping they just sort everything out and guide me!

Ok thank you for this info. I’m getting bloods done in a week and have a good nhs endo who doesn’t try and change me over to Levo. In fact they’re doing a study on ndt vs levo!
