This has been of great help to me as ingredients in Levothyroxine and T3 Liothyronine or NDT contribute to histamine liberating issues. Some food and medication may be tolerated in small amounts. Larger doses or amount will release histamine. Tolerance levels differs from person to person.

Just so I understand (thinking brain not quite functional atm): does levothyroxine and Liothyronine cause a histamine reaction?
Looking at be Tired Thyroid blog T3 triggers histamine and personally found that too, even at a small dose. Itchy all over, red eyes, runny stomach, puffy red eyelids.
I’ve had really bad eyes lately! I take a really small dose of T3 as I don’t convert well. Wonder if it’s connected xx
It's very possible. It may cause blurry or double vision.
I get blurry eyes and really dry eyes too. Have loads of allergies since I started T3. Might just take a break for a while and see how I go x
Good luck 🙏 that you feel better soon. Supplements and medications are difficult with histamine related issues. B12 and Vitamin D as well as magnesium could make us worse. I yet have to find a bit D that doesn't make me itch. After having B 12 loading dose and injections my TSH increased to 7. Dropped the B12 and 8 weeks later TSH T4 and T3 back to under 1 for TSH. T4 high normal. T3 low normal and high T3 levels don't make me feel better.
Liyaelize, I know this is an older post but I have spent TWO YEARS with doctors telling me my worsening horrible symptoms were thyroid related when a new smart doctor just diagnosed SIBO and histamine intolerance. Part of my problem is the last year I have not been able to take thyroid meds because my symptoms become extremely severe (head pressure, fatigue, hives, breathless, just feel TERRIBLE) - then another smart doctor recently told me that is because T4 and T3 raises histamine levels. A low histamine diet has been the only thing that has relieved some of my symptoms! Starting treatment with Quercetin etc. now to help clear histamine. See medical reports below confirming.

Thanks so much. T3 in more than 2.5 mcg also triggers histamine liberating reactions with me. Why I follow a low histamine and salicylate diet.
Liyaelize - good to hear from you! Yes I believe the studies are correct and that is why my symptoms intensified so badly when I would try to take thyroid medicine. I have now been told folate and B12 also raise histamine. Fortunately my thyroid numbers are staying barely in range and my outstanding integrative gastroenterologist thinks that as I heal my gut/histamine issue, my thyroid will start to work better. I'm getting pretty good at the histamine diet it's been 4 weeks and I feel so much better although I'll have it day or two now and then when symptoms are a little worse. I start supplements next week so hope that will help even more. I will definitely be looking into salicylate as I have not heard of that yet. Thanks again for responding very comforting to hear from others who have suffered from the same things!
Fortunately my step son is a gastroenterologist and helping me. Beyond 70 mcg of T4 I also experience histamine liberating reactions . The acacia and lactose are the culprits.
Lucky you! I am spending a fortune on my integrative gastro (who is top in his field and doesn't take insurance) in U.S. because traditional docs just are not up to speed on this in my area! But being misdiagnosed for almost THREE YEARS this has become very severe and chronic and will take a while get it right.
I find the US medical system not on a part to what I had in South Africa or Hong Kong where I lived before. Have to see too many doctors here.
YES agree 100%. I have learned that the hard way - been twisting in the wind 3 years with docs saying thyroid and it was about doc #20 who did the breath test and now I am on this path of trying to heal. I have learned some of the top docs in the US don't take insurance so they are free to test/treat as needed. US insurance is a big, big problem.
Thyroid, Histamine impact the gut, bones and spine. Atlas orthogonal adjustment can be helpful as well.
Liyaelize - yes that explains why I've had back paint on and off I believe. Doc says histamine affects all systems that's why I have some shortness of breath and skin issues etc etc. Lovely. I will definitely take your advice about the Atlas orthogonal adjustment - had another friend mention that too. I'm seeing a top US gastro in Los Angeles Dr. Farshid Rahbar who has done more in 2 appointments than 20 docs in two years. He has several supplements I start next week. If you can think of any other suggestions for me please pass them on I am determined to feel better!
Ensure not to go beyond your load levels when having food, medication or supplements as that is when reactions are triggered
