Does anyone else here find themselves regularly irritable since their symptoms began? It makes me feel like a terrible person and I prefer to be alone so I don't get triggered by anything, but I am currently under-medicated (although in the process of getting this sorted) and I have been so irritable for so long. It really causes problems in pretty much all of my relationships. I feel like no-one can really understand how difficult it is to be patient and tolerant when you have zero energy, impaired concentration/brain fog and feel physically exhausted constantly.

Irritability and hypothyroidism
I'm hypothyroid and found my temper getting worse and worse over the years.
I found that giving up gluten and being absolutely ruthless about it helped me to get rid of the problem. I realised that something good was happening mood-wise after just five days.
Be aware that going gluten free can have symptoms in the beginning that are similar to withdrawal from an addictive drug, but they do wear off after a week or two. Search for "gluten withdrawal symptoms" for more info.
I found hypo made me irritable. I'm guessing it's because a slow metabolism doesn't clear stress hormones so well.
yes, and unironically i sometimes feel bitter about not being able to better regulate my emotions and reactions. which of course doesn’t help. personally i’ve found that meditation, though it’s hard to do with my severe ADD, helps quite a bit.
i hope you feel better soon zazbag
I was irritable before i was hypo anyway
But i did find it hard to keep dealing with people saying "you look well, are you better now?" when i felt like death warmed up. It did make me stay away from things rather than try and explain to folk who had no experience of what it felt like.
