Supplements and thyroid test

Am I right in thinking that I only need to stop taking my B complex vitamins for 2 days before I have a thyroid monitoring blood test? I take omega 3 oil, Multivitamins and D3 in addition. Thanks x

That's correct, but Biotin or a B Complex that contains Biotin should be left off for 7 days before any blood tet (not just thyroid). Anything else take after the blood draw on the day.

By the way, multivitamins aren't recommended for a variety of reasons. They contain too little of anything to help if levels are low, they tend to use the cheapest, wrong form and least absorbable of ingredients, often contain things we shouldn't supplement unless tested and found to be deficient, i.e. calcium, iron, iodine. If it contains iron then that affects the absorption of everything else as iron needs to be taken 2 hours away from any other supplements.

Thank you, Susie. That’s so helpful. I didn’t know that about the multi vits. I’ll stop those now.
