We should always test iodine and only supplement if deficient.
Iodine solution used to be used to treat overactive thyroid before the current radioactive iodine treatment, so it can make hypothyroidism worse.
150mcg iodine is the recommended daily amount and in the UK that is easily available from a normal diet as milk, yogurt, white fish and scampi contain good amounts, so taking a supplement containing 150mcg would be giving us too much if we are not deficient.
Also, levothyroxine contains Iodine, not as an added ingredient but as T4 is converted to T3 then iodine atoms are released. I believe 100mcg iodine contains 62mcg iodine.
