Hi, this will be long so please bear with me please😊 About five years ago, obese, fatigued and struggling, a friend I trusted convinced me it was my thyroid, armed with loads of info she advised a ndt ( she took herself) and I slowly weaned myself into Nature throid. I got fit, lost weight, gained energy and never felt better. I started to trekk and climbed Ben Lomond and in October 2017 sent Trekking along the China wall. I wasn't perfect then and had little signs but life was good. Then I couldn't get nature thyroid and everything went rapidly downhill. I tried Thyroid but couldn't get the dose right and I got really ill, I had to tell my doctor what i,d been doing ( a friend, small town) I explained what a ndt was but I think she thought I was being gullable, told me to stop the 'supplements and put my now disabling symptoms down to early menopause( 44 at the time) I've had many investigations since then bloods, X-Ray and 18 months ago I was thrown on the Fibromyalgia pile ( sorry to others with fibromyalgia but that is how I feel) I was prescribed pregabaline and Duloxitine. I lost 3 months to pregabilin, I was so drugged up and was just numb and couldn't concentrate on duloxotine. A lovely locum doctor helped me wean of them and I was left with co-codomol for pain until a doctor I've never met refused to prescribe them any more and want me back on previous drugs 😲 My surgery has changed hands and now I don't know any of the doctors. I was told over the phone I was depressed and it wasn't life threatening. My symptoms are. Fatigue, pain, pins and needles, numbness, weight gain, hair falling out, dry skin, memory problems, brain got and really cold especially in the afternoon. I,be read everything on Thyroid and Fibromyalgia, changed my diet to Paleo then vegan but about six months ago with nothing left I just gave in to it. I mean why should I care, nobody else does, I had to stop working and some days I can't even sit up........so last week I gave myself a shake and decided to start again. Hence the bloods results on my other post from medicheck....... There a bit strange 🤔 and not sure where to go from here but can't just sit back. Thanks for listening 😊

WeeN, "I mean why should I care, nobody else does,"

Too many here have been in the same place and will understand exactly what you felt at that stage 😫

"so last week I gave myself a shake and decided to start again" Yay! You've taken the first step, that's great. It'll be a bit of a journey, but this forum is always here for you.

"not sure where to go from here" I can see from the thyroid test results in your previous post that you won't get any thyroid medication via the GP. Self medication is obviously not something to take lightly, but it may be your only option. You mentioned you were on NatureThroid previously. Have you ever actually tried levothyroxine?

No I've not tried Levo, do you think I should try self meditating again. Can't go on like this. 🤔

Self medicating is not something we advise. But I can't see any other option and you have done it successfully before. I'm going to PM you, but have to go out for an hour or so first so bear 🐻 with me :)

Sorry that you've ended up where you are, but great that you are taking back control.

I'd recommend getting your bloods testing - now, so you know where you are. It's unlikely that he GP will test you, but ots of us on the forum have private testing - a finger-prick test at home. SeasideSusie gives really useful advice on how best to do this if you haven't tried before - click on her name and look at her recent replies to people There are often discounts on a Thursday with one of the testing companies.

You will need to do TSH, free T3, free T, thyroid antibodies and key nutrients - ferritin, folate, vit D and B12. Once you have the results, post them here, along with the lab ranges, as these vary from lab to lab, and the lively people here will help you make sense of them.

It's possible that once you have the results, your GP will prescribe levo for you, but as RedApple has advised, some people buy privately. Start low and and take it slow - it's a long trek not a sprint! Good luck x
