saturday i was having bad chest pains for about an hour so nervously headed to A/E

was masked up and taken for ECG which was fine but due to age they wanted to run bloods

while waiting on bloods dr examined me and said he suspected Gastro-oesophageal reflux disease

bloods came back good and dr said to take gaviscon to see if it helps

been taking it and still acidy and chest pains

call dr today and they are putting me on Lansoprazole 30mg

how does this effect thyroid meds?

NDT and T3 at 10am and 6pm

Mandy There have been a number of post about stomach issues and being hypo. One of the things commonly discussed is that hypos tend to have low stomach acid which causes very similar symptoms to acid reflux. For reflux a PPI such as lansoprazole will help; for low stomach acid this will make things worse. For low stomach acid cider vinegar with mother seems to help.

If you do a search on this site you will get more info and pointers to decide what is best for you.

So you were very hypo...this often causes low stomach acid..should improve as you increase dose

How much have you increased NDT?

mandy72 profile image
mandy72 in reply toSlowDragon

at the moment im taking 3/4 ndt and 6.25 T3 in the morning and 1/2 ndt and 6.25 t3 in the late afternoon

i find the added T3 is better than NDT alone

Get levels retested 6-8 weeks later

cheapest option for just TSH, FT4 and FT3

£29 (via NHS private service )

monitormyhealth.org.uk/thyr...

Aim to retest vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin twice year too
