Morningside Liothyronine

Has anyone had problems with Morningside liothyronine as was given this brand two weeks ago and feel quite unwell.

No use it all the time. Have also had Teva lio and find it fine.

Which brand do you normally have?

Personally I prefer it to Mercury Pharma...but we are all different

Morningside is perhaps stronger than Mercury

It can take several weeks to adjust to brand change

I am given a different brand every month. Last mercury pharma. Two weeks ago Morningside at am feeling off but not sure if liothyronine.

You should ALWAYS insist on sticking with one brand

liothyronine or levothyroxine brands are not bio equivalent

This means 20mcg Mercury Pharma T3 is not exactly the same as 20mcg Teva T3 or 20mcg Morningside

Different fillers affect absorption

Different people react differently to each brand.

Many people find it impossible to change brands

I found it too about 4 months to settle on Morningside, after being on MP

Always get paper prescription and go around pharmacies until you get brand you need

Small independent pharmacies can be more helpful

Physicians should: 1) alert patients that preparations may be switched at the pharmacy; 2) encourage patients to ask to remain on the same preparation at every pharmacy refill; and 3) make sure patients understand the need to have their TSH retested and the potential for dosing readjusted every time their LT4 preparation is switched (18).

I have insisted but says he has to accept what is sent by supplier. Says as meds are generic he can't specify even though GP has on prescription he sends to the pharmacist every month through the post. (in present climate I don't know if I will get any next time) and GP does not care about it and does not, as most GPs,

have much knowlege on the subject.

Had never heard of liothyronine when I first spoke to him last September. Had trouble getting my blood test results recently. Was told all was fine but when I finally got the figures all was not fine. To be honest I am fed up of being messed about but due to the coronavirus at present it is best to keep quiet and

can only contact surgery if it is an emergency.

So you make sure to pick up the prescription yourself

You physically go round, or ring lots of different pharmacies until you find a helpful one

You can have Brand named on prescription

Many/most on T3 get full thyroid and vitamin testing privately

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking?

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

If/when also on T3, make sure to take last third or half of daily dose 8-12 hours prior to test, even if this means adjusting time or splitting of dose day before test

Is this how you do your tests?

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Hi, I was on morning side for over a year, absolutely no issues, my friend is still on it and is doing well.

I moved to cytomel as they come in 5mcg and I’m playing around with times and dosages and don’t want to have to cut tablets. Hope you get few more feedback 😊

Thanks. Yes I have to cut them up which is not ideal. Dare not ask for 10mg as I think works out more expensive. In light my GP tried to get me to come off liothyronine 3 times last summer and had me de-registered in September I think it was because of this expense. Levo did not convert and blood test showed this in 2012 when started thyroxine as throid removed

Morningside now has NHS license for 5mcg and10mcg ....but more expensive

Hi, I had the same, felt as if it was not T3 or very low dose, and stopped it.

I am used to sigmapharm T3 which I think is stronger. I remembered one of our learned friends saying they liked it and thought it was stronger so I gave it a go.

Good luck it's like a lottery with our meds!

i started on morningside t3 a few weeks ago along with levo (for the past 4 years had been on NDT thiroyd) I had been on levo only when i was first diagnosed but didnt feel well on it and put on lots of weight. i was well on NDT and lost half of the weight i gained. however, for varying reasons, had to go back on levo and my endo agreed to try me on levo/t3 combo. i have not felt well on this but i do not know if it is the levo again causing this or the morningside T3. I have reduced my dosage slightly to see if that helps as i believe i was on a bigger dose than when i was taking NDT. I have also asked for a different brand of thyroxine to see if a change of fillers would help but i really have no way of knowing which tablet is making me feel unwell. my main symptoms are stomach pain, indigestion and some bloating

i still have some symptoms with bloating and the weight is just going on. i have six months of thiroyd NDT left and, after my next blood tests on the combo, i am seriously thinking of taking them in the hope i can get more NDT in six months time.

I was given morning side liothyronine instead of Murcury pharma this month (chemist said that's all they could get at current time) and I have to say I feel awful. Started taking them on Sunday. Body aches/hurts and feels really stiff, feeling down, just feel like crying. Just like when I was on Teva Levothyroxine. Will have to persevere I guess for the month and hunt around for the murcury pharma for my next prescription.

Thanks that is how I have been feeling. It is as though there's very little actual liothyronine in the tablets.

It's awful isn't it. I'm guessing its the fillers in them, just don't agree with some people. I can't wait to get changed back to murcury pharma.

Me too but I have to have what pharmacist can get in. I had a problem with Teva too.
