Please can someone help me..

Hi, I am after some advice. I have been feeling quite poorly for a while, including constant palpitations, tiredness, lack of energy etc. My thyroid test has come back within normal range but my Thyroid Peroxidase ABS has come back high - 95.2. The normal ranges are 0 > 35. Has anyone else had anything similar and have you been treated?

Thanks

Becky

High TPO antibodies confirms autoimmune thyroid disease also called Hashimoto’s

Do you have any other results?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially as you have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's)

Ask GP to test vitamin levels

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or vitamins

For thyroid including antibodies and vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

" My thyroid test has come back within normal range"

Yes, doctors usually say that. But they are wrong if they think that means you are OK. "Normal" just means within the official range, which is far too wide for someone with thyroid problems. The problem is, unless you have results from when you were well there's no way of knowing what your individual, personal range is.

I am so thankful for this group, I knew almost nothing about the thyroid on first joining, including the above information.
