Am I overmedicated?

Hi,

I’ve been on 125mcg for the majority of years since I was diagnosed (over 20 years ago). Had a blood test a few weeks ago and am wondering if I am now overmedicated.

TSH 0.006 (0.38-5.0)

Free T4 13.6 (7.0-16.0)

Free T3 5.9 (3.8-6.0)

I’m worried I’m overmedicated because my free t3 is higher than I’ve ever seen it. It usually is at around 5. Is it good or bad that it has increased?

Please advise, I’m quite worried about this but doctor said my results were good???

Is this a Medichecks result by any chance? Mine was like this three weeks ago but the NHS TSH was normal. I was bewildered. Still am. As it was the second time this has happened and I’m a newbie so I’m confused enough! Do you feel any different? Have you started taking vitamins that might increase absorption? x

I was taking vitamin b12 and also folic acid. Does that increase absorption? No this was a test done at my doctors.

what supplement did you use to increase your b12?

Perhaps improved vits and minerals have helped conversion. FT4 looks low - how long after dose was test done ?

I normally take my Levo in the morning. The test was at 9am and I waited until after to take my Levo. The free T4 range is 7.0-16.0. It’s the free t3 I’m most worried about. Is it too high?

Your FT3 is fine. Why do you think it's too high? Do you have hyper symptoms? Ranges are only a rough guide, not an ultimate barrier that you mustn't cross.

I’ve been having a few headaches which is unlike me, also loose bowels upon waking every morning. These have been fairly recent and I was worried I am overmedicated.

Many things can cause headaches and loose bowels. But do you feel well otherwise? I would say you're not over-medicated, but if you're worried, try reducing your levo a little and see if it helps. But, do it yourself, don't get your doctor involved. If your doctor reduces the amount s/he prescribes, you might never get it raised again should you need it.

Should I try alternating 125/100mcg? 25mcg a day seems like a big reduction.

Yes, you could try that.
