January 6th.
Dr has given me b12 tablets and vitamin d3 but ... - Thyroid UK
Dr has given me b12 tablets and vitamin d3 but symptoms still persist
So in January you had these tests done
Vitamin D 33nmol
This is insufficient and only 3 points above being deficient
How much vitamin D were you prescribed?
Guidelines on dose required
ouh.nhs.uk/osteoporosis/use...
It takes several weeks for vitamin D to improve
GP will only prescribe to bring vitamin D levels to 50nmol. But improving to around 80nmol or 100nmol may be better

Once you Improve level, you may need on going maintenance dose to keep it there.
Test twice yearly via vitamindtest.org.uk
Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function. There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7
It’s trial and error what dose we need,
Government recommends everyone supplement October to April

In YouTube video...vitamin D at 40ng/ml (USA units) is equal to 100nmol (UK units)

Hi Nelie
I wanted to respond as I noticed that you were following me.
Your vitamin D falls just inside the normal range but I would suggest that it probably needs to be a lot higher than it is.
What dose has the doctor prescribed, mine was a similar level to yours and I took 1000iu daily for six months and it hardly budged, I then started taking 3000iu daily via a Better You mouth spray and managed to get my level up into the 90's in about 3 months I need to keep taking this amount daily to maintain my levels.
Your B12 also need to be raised , but if you have been given B12 tablets by your doctor they should help, however I was always led to believe that to keep your B's balanced you should take a B complex alongside the B12 .
Your thyroid results , at first glance don't look too bad but you really need to get a result for the T3 because this is the active hormone . It is highly unlikely you will be able to get this tested on the NHS and many ( me included ) have had to pay for private testing , I use medichecks ( they have a special offer on today which includes 22% off the listed prices of tests) or another company is Blue Horizon. I use the finger prick tests which means you do not need to pay for extra things like a nurse to take the blood for you.
Your low vitamins could be what is making you feel bad so it might help to get those optimal before you look into further thyroid testing.
There are lots of knowledgable people on here who will, I'm sure be along to give you more good advice.
Good luck.
Which B12 were you prescribed and how much ?
Cyanocobalamin 1mg a day
Cyanocobalamin needs to convert in the body into Methylcobalamin. So taking the Methyl often works more efficiently. Jarrow Methylcobalamin Lozenges from Amazon 5000mcg or 1000mcg - keep under tongue until dissolved.
I got my folate re tested
8.5 ug/l. - 3.0
Are you taking a B Complex to keep all the B's in balance. You inadvertently Repliedto yourself - so SlowDragon will not have seen your Folate response !
Oh sorry😕
No worries ! Easily done ! Are you taking a B Compkex ?
No but I will thank you,
My folate is 8.5ug/l - >3.0 is that OK?
When was it tested ? Would be better higher. B-Complex should help.
Wednesday, what in optimal level of folate? Will pick up some tomorrow.
Try different brands of vitamins and find the one that works best for you. It can be costly and frustrating but there’s really no other way to go about it :/. Just because a certain brand works for many, it doesn’t mean it will for you. It’s primarily better to go for oral spray forms, softgels or capsules (in that order of efficacy) because they are absorbed much better than tablets.
As many have suggested, the BetterYou Vitamin D spray may help. There’s also Doctor’s Best softgels as recommended by Seaside Susie and others via online sites. I know a lot of people benefit from Solgar’s and Now Foods’ vitamin D3 softgels (though they did nothing much for me.) I have found the BetterYou vitamin D3 + K2 spray to be beneficial for me, personally. The BetterYou B12 spray has also helped reduce my brain fog. B12 softgels are a good alternative to oral sprays if you can’t get a hold of one. It’s usually best to go for softgels with the least inactive ingredients and fillers.
As for folate, according to research and what many have pointed out here, it’s better to go for supplements labeled as methyl-folate or folate rather than folic acid because folate is the readily active form the body needs.
Thank for the great info I'm using the vitamin d spary as well as the d3 tablets, I'll get the b12 spary I just want to feel like me again, but Drs just act like I'm making it all up 😔
Well...a lot of doctors shouldn’t even really be doctors 😄. Try not to let their insensitivity get to you. You will find a lot of us hyper/hypothyroid people are in the same boat as yours and have had better luck with taking care of our own medical health needs as well as we can rather than waiting for a doctor to finally take us seriously and actually help us.
