Changing from NDT to Levo +T3 topup

Long story short. Have Hashi's since early 2000s (hereditary). Was on 150mcg Levo only for many years, never felt "back to normal". Asked GP multiple times for a trial on NDT, refused by the PCT/CCG. Decided to self medicate. Started taking Thiroyd by Greater Pharma 3 years ago, felt much better, remaining symptoms greatly reduced.

However, given the lack of NDT purchasing options now due to the removal of a number of products, including Thiroyd, I am considering a move back to my prescribed Levo but topping up with a small amount of T3 each day.

Have anyone else gone down this route?

I was taking 3 grains of Thiroyd per day, which according to online sources suggests a total of 25mcg. Liothyronine seems to be available mainly in 25mcg tablets, so I assume that it would be best to split the tablet and take 2 or 3 times per day to even out the T3 absorption.

Is Tiromel (Turkish brand of Liothyronine) any good? It seems to be a lot cheaper than other brands.

PMs with trusted/reliable online options would be appreciated. I'm in the UK.

Many thanks

Paul

Hi Paul, my Endo is considering this change back to Levo for me also but in a few months. I was put on Levo last year but higher dose caused a Sjogrens flare.

I have tried Tiromel just a little but dont feel experienced enough to comment. Just showing my support.

By the way have you tried Lady Grey - Delicious lol.

Don’t think you will be able to get T3 if you do let me know bless

Thanks for the replies.

Not tried Lady Grey, thanks for the recommendation.

Odbod, I'm beginning to wonder that too.

I didn't explicitly ask people to PM me with sources for T3, but the absence of any PMs on the subject suggest that this may be the case.

Oh well, maybe one benefit of Brexit might be that we *may not* require a prescription to buy T3 online as some of the websites state "prescription required for countries within the EU".

If anyone/Admins have a reliable source for T3 could they PM me please.

Thanks.
