Painful shoulder

Hi

Just wondering if anyone else has had a reoccurring painful shoulder(s)? If so what did you do? Mine has started again this week and I just don’t want to go through this all again 😩. In the last four years, both my shoulders have become painful, resulting in “frozen shoulder” and I’ve had to have injections and physio, then I’m pain free for about 6 months and off we go again. ☹️☹️

Painful shoulder and frozen shoulder are hypo symptoms. Are you undermedicated?

No. Is the simple answer. My levels are great and my vitamins and minerals great. I can only put it down to stress levels, but once it starts the pain is intense do a circle begins 😞

Yes, I started with one about a year ago and have been to a consultant who diagnosed frozen shoulder. Now the other one is starting. The problem of pain is horrible but most debilitating is the incapacity when dressing and putting on coats etc. If the second one becomes as bad, I do not know how I shall manage every day life.

My consultant told me that one risk factor is hormone disturbances and he was not surprised when I told him I had no thyroid.

There is a long thread from a few weeks ago on this subject with helpful ideas. I bought an infrared lamp recommended by one sufferer and try to use it regularly. I am afraid it has not made a huge difference so far but I live in hope!

Interesting-I didn’t see the previous post. I agree dressing is a huge problem, but it also affects my ability to do my hobbies and even driving became a problem. Physio and yoga help, but it takes time.

Yes, I am having trouble with reversing out of parking spaces in supermarkets and now have an elaborate method of choosing a space that may, I am lucky, enable me to drive off without reversing!

Have you tried a chiropractor? I dont have this problem but I heard going to one does a number of helpful things to your body!

Not something I’ve thought of tbh 🤔

Yes, I did in the early stages and she made it worse. In fact every exercise or treatment made it worse. My consultant told me to do nothing but just keep on moving it. I do not think infrared lamps can do harm so I am continuing with that but definite courses of exercise certainly seemed to aggravate it for me.

I've been to one. I always feel worse the day after but then relieved. I'm sorry for your tough time :/

Have you checked vitamin D and calcium levels? Do you take magnesium?

Regular stretching exercise like yoga can help prevent it in my experience. Or you can get referral to a physio and do the exercises they give you conscientiously.

Post from 4 months ago shows very low folate and vitamin D

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

How much vitamin D are you taking?

Are you taking good quality daily vitamin B complex with folate in for low folate (not folic acid)

chriskresser.com/folate-vs-...

B vitamins best taken in the morning after breakfast

Igennus Super B complex are nice small tablets. Often only need one tablet per day, not two. Certainly only start with one tablet per day after breakfast. Retesting levels in 6-8 weeks

Or Thorne Basic B or jarrow B-right are other options that contain folate, but both are large capsules

If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before any blood tests, as biotin can falsely affect test results

Ferritin was low too

Suggest you consider retesting levels

Perhaps good time to retest

May well be, I’ll do that as I’m due to retest thyroid 😊

Yes. If it’s not one side it’s the other. Affects driving as the pressure required to change gears hurts! To be fair, when I do the exercises, it definitely helps

Yes driving is a pain. I’ve just took up more hours at work too, so the extra journey is not fun. 🙁
