How much time do you have? This webcast began last night about supplements. It's been a puzzle about what to take and when to take out supplements. It is very well done.
There were three interviewees in this first episode. The first was Dr. Gundry the Lectin guy I'm sure you have seen, he was a heart surgeon who finally realized that supplements could prevent heart surgery and change lab reports when taking the correct ones.
The second half hour interview with Jayson Calter brought out some of the ways in which they work. For instance EPA and DHA often together in a fish oil supplement compete with each other so he recommends taking one or the other at different times.
The last hour with Mr. Haycock who studies supplements as to whether they produce what they claim. He stated that even a poor multivitamin will repair a deficiency you have. It's all about the industry, people who argue against beneficial foods like coconut or probiotics just to sway the public. He did mention examine.com as a group who have investigated many of the elements in regards to the research of supplements and almost anything you want to know about them. It's a Canadian company. examine.com/
Ha, I had to go look. It was about two years ago. I just posted a link to Supplements Revealed. You have to check it out. Also the website that tells you the ins and outs and probably lies told in the supplement industry is a great resource. Dr. Haycock said that often research articles are published without anyone reading them. Lots of pitfalls when it comes to buying supplements. Interesting things at the end about microbiome.
I may have to skip Betrayal to watch this one on supplements.
