Further to my posts, desperately needing help, I was flooded with so much support and advice, all of which I have been following. Adjusting when I take my Levo, foods/drink and timings, gluten free diet, no soya etc hardly much change, but the difference I am feeling for the first time in over 2 years is unbelievable!!! I cannot begin to describe it to you. have energy, my hair has started to grow back, my memory is working, my legs are nowhere near as heavy, the fog has cleared so much, and just by these couple of steps and in 2-3 weeks!. Increase of 25 Levo as of today, plus Vits B and D (taking suggested brands). l am about to order a Magnesium blood test via Medichecks, but before I do, can anyone advise if it is just that and nothing else? Starting to feel like the old me, I thought she had gone which I had started to accept. You people are amazing! What would have happened if we had not come across this site? I would have continued to be a simplex case, one that so many people couldn't help. I wish I could show you my very happy smiling face... Slow Dragon, you have been amazing, so much 1-1 support, how can I repay you...

There's no point in testing magnesium, because of the way the body handles magnesium it will almost always be in-range. But, that doesn't mean you're not deficient. I wouldn't bother with that extra cost if I were you - I believe it's quite expensive - just take magnesium. You're more than likely to be deficient, most people are because soils are depleted.
Women usually need about 350 mg a day. And, with magnesium, it's not really about the brands, it's about the type of magnesium you take. I'm sure that if you respond to SeasideSusie, below, she will post links for you, explaining the different types of magnesium.

Which magnesium test? Why do you want to test magnesium? Testing magnesium is unreliable. About 99% of magnesium is stored in bone, muscles and soft tissues, leaving about 1% in the blood. So testing what's in the blood isn't giving an accurate picture of our magnesium status.
I think it's the Red Cell magnesium test which is the only one that can give any indication of our magnesium status, or a urine test but I don't know who does that.
Good to hear you are feeling so much better, I hope your improvement continues
If it wasn’t for this forum, many of us would have been left in very dark place.
As others have said, not necessary to test magnesium. It’s an unreliable test.
SeasideSusie has a list of different magnesium types
All magnesium needs to be four hours away from levothyroxine. Best taken early/late evening (depending when you take levothyroxine) Very relaxing.
Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to use. (On Amazon) Very good for helping improve constipation (common hypothyroid issue) Best to start slow ....1/4 teaspoon and increase slowly ....too much can cause diarrhoea
Great you got levothyroxine increase
Come back with new post once you get thyroid levels retested 6-8 weeks after dose increase
Thank you SG. I have been singing this forum to everyone I know. You all give your time. Its very emotional for me and my family, this turning point, the support from all of you, I could go on. If I am able to donate, sponsor etc, anyone please let me know.
Thyroiduk.org.uk is the 'mother' of this forum and was due to Lyn Mynott - who herself had difficulties in being diagnosed and unwell on levothyroxine. I shall give you a link, and the more members TUK have the stronger we become with more power to voice our displeasure at diagnosis and treatments. She runs this from a Garden Shed with two assistants and all do fabulous work trying to change the attitudes of the medical professionals who concentrate upon the TSH alone and not permitting 'options' of thyroid hormones. She's also met with members of The Lords.
