Have been on 175mcg for several years. GP decreased to 150mcg a year ago due to

low TSH of 0.02 (0.30 - 5.50) T3 not done

13/12/19 150mcg Levo

TSH 9.86 (0.30 -5.50)

T4 4.2 (10.30 - 24.50)

T3 not done!

Levo increased to 175mcg

30/01/20

TSH 0.01 (0.27 - 4.20)

T4 25.8 (12.0 - 22.0)

T3 6.5 (3.1 - 6.8)

I am surprised at the significant difference. I am sure GP will decrease to 150mcg again. Any thoughts.

Before agreeing to dose decrease ask GP to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

These need to be optimal

Presumably you have hashimoto’s?

Low vitamin levels are extremely common unless supplement virtually continuously

You have Hashi's so swings are not surprising. Are you gluten free? Supplementing with selenium?

Do you still take T3?

Hi Susie. Yes am gluten free and take selenium, B12, iron, vit D. Have not been on T3 for months due to difficulty of obtaining. Maybe it’s time to start again although GP would not approve!

I have the same problem after my Thyroidectomy. I have been either to high or too low on my TSH results. My doctor made a few adjustments. We changed my medicine to Synthroid which he says can be more stable for some people and then I only take a half dose of Synthroid on Saturday and Sunday. If course there have been other changes etc. I also take T3, 5 mcg twice/day. I’m not an expert, but I can relate to how frustrating it can be.
