Been awake since 4.30, yet again. Feeling really ill. Frightened. Nausea going thro to back pain, Head, neck and shoulder pain as usual. Low back pain. Weak thighs. Gurgly tummy. Palpitations. Got my friend the Hot water bottle again. Just taken some andrews liver salts to try and settle me down. Wish I could feel well, or at least get some answers. Feel so alone.

Sorry you feel so ill. Have you had your blood test yet? We might be able to advise you more if you could post some results on here.

I can identify with you. Used to wake up at 4am feeling so ill and scared. I was very under medicated for hypothyroid.

That is the problem. Not getting to the root of the trouble and all the time trying to carry on!Take care.

Sorry to read you are feeling unwell.

Palpitations could be low thyroid or low Folate etc. When you can see your test results you may learn more about your well being. If you have Hashimotos for example - then being gluten free could help tummy issues.

Without results we are only guessing .

Hope the Andrews Liver Salts give you some calm ...

What did you have to eat last night ?

Good point. Not eating as I should, I know. Just having what I fancy! When! Had a couple of crackers and cheese at tea time. Went out to pub quiz with friends ( I am dragging myself out to try to keep going - its a struggle, as it is smile on face time ) had a cheese sandwich and a piece of pork pie! Only have water with lime juice to drink. Going out with daughter for lunch today, so will try to watch what I have - think we are going for a carvery! To be honest it is a strain, but belated outing for hubby's birthday early January, postponed as she had flu! I'm Trying to keep cart on wheels, as I've mentioned before, doesn't want to know about any illnesses , but really cannot do with any more aggro. and/or rows.

I cannot eat cheese near bedtime because it would keep me awake. Cheese is very rich and hard to digest for some people.

This is interesting

I think you are right. I just fancied it at the time. Don't seem to have much appetite these days. Have been eating chocolate on an off as well, so I should probably give that a miss as well. I think it is a comfort thing!

Certain foods can stimulate you and keep you awake. I never snack in the middle of the night because I know I will never get back off to sleep. I do keep a bottle of water by my bedside incase I have a coughing fit at night.

Do you take your Levo/T4 when you wake early ?

When you post your results it is possible to see if you are under- medicated which in turn can put stress on the adrenals.

Adrenals have a circadian rhythm and could be causing you to wake early. I didn't want to add this at this point as I was awaiting your thyroid results and vits and minerals. One step at a time !!

Your results should look like this ..

TSH - 1 or under

FT4 and FT3 - upper part of range

ANTI-TPO & Anti- Tg results

B12 - around 500

Folate & Ferritin - mid-range

VitD - 100+

Chase your surgery when you have a mo !

Thank you Marz. Just got back. Still feeling dreadful but had a pleasant time, and managed to get through it without any falling out. I know I look dreadful and obviously hubby knows how I am, (take that back, think he is oblivious as he keeps telling me how ill he feels) but illness never mentioned. Still, was is nice to see my daughter, and for her to take us out. We don't see her very often. even though she only lives around the corner! I take my levothyroxine approx. 5 a.m. each morning. when I tend to get up. Go downstairs, lie on sofa with hot water bottle. Sometimes nod off again. At moment taking 50mcg, 75mcg alternate days. but still feeling dreadful, and think my neck is swelling (not sure though). As far as I recall this is the lowest dosage I have ever been on. Saw doc. after last thyroid test, just over a week ago. Said it was ok. No appointment to have another test, but she has given me a letter to take to specialist, when I get around to it. Next at surgery , next Wednesday with hubby's dementia clinic. Will ask then ( face to face) about results! Wondering if I would be OK to take co-codomal or diazepam. Usually try to keep off them , but think I need something, head, neck and shoulder bad and brain feels like mush. Wll speak again later.

Glad you had a good outing . As you are going to the surgery next Wednesday ring them and request your latest thyroid results with ranges and any vitamin and mineral results. That is more than enough time ...

If you have pain then take a pill you are familiar with - or rub in some Voltarol Gel.

Got it wrong - think I am losing it all together - It is Tuesday we are next at Dementia Clinic. Don't know whether they will oblige, at surgery, but will ask. Then I am at hosp Thurs and Friday for ECG 24 hour testing, and also Friday morning to see Physio. Another trial, taking hubby with me. Will definitely take a pain killer tonight. Thanks again. With luck will feel a bit better over the weekend.

I’m always awake by 4, it’s horrible and I feel exactly the same as you so feel free to message me in the early hours for a chat because feeling poorly in the early hours is the scariest feeling ever, I’m just waiting on the edge of my seat for my results from Medichecks x

I'm a bad sleeper and I woke up at 4.30 this morning and I forced myself to lie in bed until 5. I have stopped watching tv in the bedroom for the last few days and I think that is making me sleep better. The temptation to switch sky on and watch Naked Attraction for an hour is overwhelming lol That programme fascinates me because some of bodies are not exactly pretty to look at. It actually makes me feel better about myself now.

I might have to watch it lol, I don’t watch tv in bed and have no trouble getting to sleep, just staying asleep is my problem x

It is hilarious! I said to my husband if I had seen you naked before I dated you I wouldn't have even married you ... he was not amused lol The contestant pick the body they fancy and then go on a date with their clothes on. Most of the couples do not end up together because I think personality plays a part in attraction not just looks. When I was younger I dated a few attractive men who were extremely boring so they didn't last long. My husband was not my type at all but he made me laugh a lot. Unfortunately he has turned into Victor Meldrew so I now call him Victor to wind him up when he is having moan about stuff.

My ex husband was a pretty boy but turned out to be an absolute B, my now partner is balding with a beer belly and an inside leg shorter than mine lol but he is just perfect in every way, makes me laugh, has been excellent looking after everything and the kids whilst I’ve been poorly x

I just watched Naked Attraction on catch up and well what can I say ... some 60 year old man who thinks he is John Travolta ..... bleugh! I need to stop watching this programme!

Thanks Wwerty. If things don't settle down may well take you up on that. Hope your results are helpful. Take care.

Thank you Wwerty. Haven't got around to taking tests yet! Sorry you don't sleep either. To be honest don't think I would be up to chat at that time, but thanks for the offer. xx

I'm with you, was awake just before 5, I'm hypo right now . Did you try audible ? Also had a snack when I woke up, turned the fan on as I was so warm.

Wetsuiter profile image

I do Audible when i have bad nights. its amazing how you can miss whole chunks of a book despite the fact you re convinced you re wide awake! I dont have problems with cheese before bed, but sometime I've not eaten enough and i think that keeps me awake (tricky to know when you have a weird appetite). If I realise, sometimes warm milk helps. (not always i must add!)

in reply toWetsuiter

Totally, I have missed chapters. I have also this weird sleep where I sleep, but it's such a light sleep, I'm convinced I'm wide awake and I know I toss and turn. Yes, it's good to have a snack on the bedside table, like a few nuts, rice cake, coconut bar. Big hugs to you, we will get out of it x
