Welcome to our forum d63g65g89 and am sorry you're not feeling well and have symptoms.
Have you had a blood test for thyroid hormones? If not request GP to test TSH, (which means thyroid stimulating hormone) Free T4 and Free T3. The latter two he may not do but you can get a private test and I'll give you a link just in case you decide to do this. Also request B12, Vit D (both prohormones) iron ferritin and folate.
First of all, to test for thyroid hormones it has to be the earliest blood draw, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours (if you were taking thyroid hormones) between last dose and test and take afterwards.
They test the TSH to diagnose and this mean a 'thyroid stimulating hormone' which is from the pituitary gland and it rises when its trying to flag the thyroid gland to produce more hormones.
GPs usually only test the TSH and maybe T4 but we need TSH, FT4, and Free T3 and thyroid antibodies.
The following a private labs if you decide to 'do it yourself' as doctors usually only test TSH and T4.
Always get a print-out of your results, with the ranges and post them if you have a query. Ranges are important as labs differ in their testing machines and so the ranges might be different.
Se my reply on your other post.
And welcome! This is a really good forum and you should be able to get a lot of help here. If no answers try again. There are so many posts every day it's easy to get missed
Its always a bit more tricky when you have a pre existing condition.
Have you looked at Thyroid UKs website they have a list of signs & symptoms? Look for symptoms that you wouldnt associate with Arthritis -puffy face is one; other might be dry skin, constipation, dry eyes, hearing loss, lsow pulse, lower temperature etc.... However Hypothroidism is known as the great mimicker and can present in very diverse ways so the list is of those most commmonly occuring ones.
I have Arthritis but only in my knees so you have all my sympathy.
