Pregnant,on NDT... Hormones erratic. Nervous about another miscarriage. Should I bite the bullet and pay to see an endocrinologist??

Hello.

I posted yesterday asking about being pregnant while on NDT. I then read other similar posts and tbh I freaked out!

People advising about tsh and t4 and upping dose every 4 weeks... I feel so out of my depth.

I have adrenal fatigue on top of hypot. My brain is in a constant fog and I can't make sense of all this thyroid hormone stuff and how to medicate myself properly.

I started thyroyd 4 years ago and have been on two grains twice a day for a long time. I take high quality vitc and magnesium.

I want to make sure I'm doing all I can to support my baby (I'm only four weeks in.. I'm miscarried at 6 weeks in Nov) and I don't feel confident enough doing it alone.

My naturopath isn't qualified to work with me in pregnancy.

I haven't had my bloods done in a while but intend to do that this week.

I've come to the conclusion that seeing an endocrinologist is the best thing for my and baby's health. But can he/she even get to the root of this and get my hormones properly levelled out??

What are people's experiences with endos?

First, my condolences at the loss of your baby. It is not uncommon for people with hypothyroidism to miscarry. I shall link you to a website (USA) and you might find it helpful:-

hypothyroidmom.com/an-unnec...

Some hints to follow for blood tests:-

Always get the very earliest appointment, fasting (you can drink water) and allow a gap of 24 hours from your last dose and test and take it afterwards.

This procedure helps to keep the TSH at its highest as many doctors lower dose if TSH is too low. The aim is a TSH of 1 or lower. Doctors, if you're in the UK, seem to think if TSH is 'in range' that's fine but it isn't.

You also need B12, Vit D, iron, ferritin and folate tested.

Always get a print-out of your results - with the ranges - for your own records and post if you have a query.

Thank you for responding. So I got my blood results today following advice. And I'm very confused. I won't be able to talk to my GP until Monday at the earliest. Its a 3week wait to get an appointment with her. Anyway, here are my results, if you could please help me interpret them! I am on two grains of thyroyd twice daily. I have included blood results from Sept when I wasn't pregnant, for comparison. I am now around 5 weeks pregnant...
