Results - How do they look?

Hi everyone, currently on 100mcg of Levo, been on this dose now for 6 weeks and these are my latest results. TSH come down quite a bit in since last result. Do these new ones look ok?

My voice is now back to normal which is brilliant, I do still get very tired some days, but not all the time and do struggle with being constipated all the time, I don't know if that's just to be expected with Hashimotos? I am taking Vit D Spray and B Complex. Obviously i don't want to have an increase and go the other way, what are your thoughts? Thank you

Latest results - 13/01/2020

TSH - 1.14 mu/L(normal range 0.27 - 4.2 mU/L)

FT4 - 17.8 pmol/L

(normal range 12 - 22 pmol/L)

FT3 - 4.6 pmol/L (normal range 3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L)

Last tests 19th November (See photo) x

TSH - 1.14 mu/L(normal range 0.27 - 4.2 mU/L)

FT4 - 17.8 pmol/L

(normal range 12 - 22 pmol/L)

FT3 - 4.6 pmol/L (normal range 3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L)

There's still room for improvement with your results but how do you feel? Do you think you are good where you are or could improve further?

The aim of a hypo patient generally, when on Levo only, is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be in the upper part of their reference ranges, if that is where you feel well. Your FT4 is 58% through range and your FT3 is 41% through range.

How are your nutrient levels? Optimal levels will help thyroid hormone replacement work properly. Apparently selenium and zinc can help with conversion although some people like to test before supplementing.

To be honest i could feel better - I don't feel as good as i used to before all this started!

In that case try for an increase in dose to get your FT4/FT3 further up the ranges.

You don't have to stop B12 before blood tests, it's B Complex/Biotin that gives false results and should be stopped for 7 days prior to any tests.

Magnesium supplements can help improve constipation, also magnesium is recommended when supplementing vitamin D

Calm vitality magnesium powder is cheap and easy to use. Best to start on low dose as too much can cause diarrhoea. Magnesium must be four hours away from taking Levothyroxine. Best taken afternoon or evening as it's relaxing and can improve sleep

Did you stop vitamin B complex a week before blood test?

Your TSH is still too high. FT3 on low side

You could see how you go....retest again in another 6-8 weeks

Or push GP for small increase.....perhaps 100/125 alternate days

But GP may be reluctant

Are you on strictly gluten free diet?

I have started taking Magnesium Citrate at night, 400mg. Hopefully that will help! I stopped the B12 for 5 days!

It was a struggle to get her to out me up to 100, so think its unlikely she will increase me, however....i do have a largish stash of 25mcg? Off the record, i could take 125 every other day and see if it helps, then confess when i see her in 6 weeks time??

Did you mean you stopped vitamin B complex ? Rather than B12

Regarding dose ....

New NICE guidelines

nice.org.uk/guidance/ng145/...

1.3.6

Consider starting levothyroxine at a dosage of 1.6 micrograms per kilogram of body weight per day (rounded to the nearest 25 micrograms) for adults under 65 with primary hypothyroidism and no history of cardiovascular disease.

Im only taking the B Complex ones, i thought they were the B12?

going by the nice guidelines i should be on 150?

What would i feel like if my dose is too high, if i start taking 125mcg for example

Well I wouldn't increase to 150mcg ...or even 125mcg yet

But it's good grounds for trying small increase to 100/125mcg alternate days .....perhaps

Suggest you see how you get on in next few weeks. It's tempting to rush but you might feel worse on higher dose if increase too soon

Ignore my comment about TSH being too high I was looking at the picture results not ones in the test

See how you go on current dose

Retest in 2-3 months?

I'm curious. Which testing company generated the results in the image that you posted? For the FT3 reading, I would have expected "Optimal" to appear for readings in the range 5-6.8, not for readings below 5.
