Hi
I am first in first trimester of pregnancy. Week 4+3
I have Hashimotos and am hypo. I have general had this under control for some time now.
However my September results were
Free t4 22.6 range 12-22
Tsh 0.11 range 0.27-4.20
T3 5.8 range unknown
I normally do well at the higher end of the range and meds at that time were 125mg Levo and 5mg T3. However GP recommended I reduce my dose to 100mg Levo keeping the T3 at 5mg
After reducing dose, bloods were done in November, before pregnancy, as follows and I was feeling quite run down.
Free t4 17.6
Tsh 0.92
T3 4.6
Therefore dose was upped again to 125mg Levo and 5mg T3.
Pregnancy results today were
Free t4 23.3
TSH 0.07
My question is if this is ok?
I would read this as TSH quite low and T4 a little high. However I understood that first trimester HCG hormone will raise T4 and in turn can lower the TSH. So initially this may not seem too concerning. But my worry is with them both being out of range, is this a big concern? Is the T4 too high and the TsH too low. I’m worried about reducing because I know the foetus needs Thyroxine for growth and otherwise I have no negative symptoms and feel completely well. Sometimes if I am taking too much, I start to feel tired and poorly so I’m pretty good at judging whether my dose is correct. Obviously there is less room for error here though due to pregnancy so your help would be really appreciated.
I always was told that you needed more T4 during pregnancy yet the ranges per trimester of T4 go down from 12-22 to
12.1-19.6 1st Trimester
9.6-17 2nd Trimester
8.4-15.6 3rd Trimester
Thanks in advance
