Overmedicated?

Hi, A month ago I upped my levothyroxine dose from 75mcg to 100mcg. Have felt a bit more energy, not massively so. Yesterday my eyes felt quite strained, like I’d put my contacts in the wrong way round or something - nothing major but a bit off. And my head felt quite empty, except for ringing in ears being a lot worse than normal. I wondered if overmedicated so I looked at the hyper and hypo symptoms on the Thyroid UK website and am a bit confused as sounds more hypo than hyper. Has anyone experienced this or has any ideas? Not sure whether to skip a couple of days of levo to see if it makes a difference. Thanks

You need to get bloods retested 6-8 weeks after each dose increase in Levothyroxine

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water .

Last dose of Levothyroxine 24 hours prior to blood test. (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Do you always have same brand of Levothyroxine?

Are you on strictly gluten free diet, or tried it?

How long since vitamin levels last tested?

Thanks SlowDragon . I am due some tests next month. Strictly gluten, dairy and soy free. Also avoid gluten free substitutes (other than rice pasta), beans and lentils as they make me feel disgustingly full. Tests just over a month ago were B12 over range, and vit D in low range but much improved. Folate and iron not tested as weren’t a problem initially, but would put my mind at rest / give me something to go on, so will purchase Medichecks. Next set of tests with endo for sex hormones as well as I shed a lot of hair, though this seems to have stopped now and have a lovely halo of fuzz growing in. It’s the same brand of levo, expiry date Sep 2020, so nothing weird there.

North Star / Almus as seemed to be most readily available...

North Star, Activis and Alumus are all the same brand and well tolerated by lot of people

Definitely do NOT alter dose. Wait and get tested after 6-8 weeks. Common to feel odd about 4-7 weeks after each dose increase
