Documentaries regarding the NHS

I have been informed that some members were unhappy because some posts that included links to two documentaries about the NHS were deleted.

Thyroid UK does not allow any political content in posts, particularly on the run up to the recent election, and therefore the posts were deleted.

However, now that the election is over, I will now be posting links to these films in a separate post.

I can't wait .... having worked for the NHS for several years and my husband used to be a hospital manager I will be very interested to see them.

The two hour documentary - The Dirty War on the NHS - went out late on ITV after the Election.

That's right Marz...I believe it was scheduled to be shown before the election, but the powers that be decided against it. I could almost understand our bought out msm making such a decision, but I couldn't understand for the life of me why they were banned on here...it all seemed so relevant as most members are so often forced to go it alone or seek help privately due to costs/cutbacks.

I didn't realise that online health forums were subject to purdah rules though, and I imagined most of us already realised that the NHS was being privatised "by stealth", by our own experiences alone. They seemed to be factual and important documentaries about a publicly owned service rather than political party broadcasts... after all, thus far both sides have been guilty of taking part in it's destruction😕 x

You're right L, I should've included all three...their voting history in parliament clearly shows all their involvement... nowhere left to go now. [excuse unintended pun]

Lol! Always fancied Cuba in my youth....not so much now.

Oh yes, it was all those things that appealed, but I fear I would no longer be able to do the dancing in the streets to the level I had planned to,😂 and the big one now is I would miss my family. I guess they'd be up for lengthy visits though...probably never get rid of them!😬

Yes, it's very tempting...especially as this place is being driven to hell in a handcart😕

I can't understand 'political' as a rationale for deleting your posts. If they were about the NHS they were relevant for thyroid patients. Everything has a political element, if you really consider it, so why delete the links?

It serves to gaslight patients. Not only do we have negative NHS experiences which directly impact our health. We are then presented with a white washed world where the NHS is better than sliced bread. It denies our experience, which is a worse tragedy.

My thoughts exactly!👍

For some reason, it reminded me of this;

"All that was required of them (i.e. the brain-washed masses) was a primitive patriotism which could be appealed to whenever it was necessary to make them accept longer working hours or shorter rations. And even when they became discontented, as they sometimes did, their discontent led nowhere, because, being without general ideas, they could only focus it on petty specific grievances. The larger evils invariably escaped their notice" George Orwell

OMG he said that? I often wonder why people focus on specifics and not the whole picture. Something MSM does a lot. Now I know why. Thanks for sharing, he (un)wittingly gave successive governments a blue print for national servitude.
