The Collected Postings of diogenes

This is a collection of ALL the posts made by diogenes on the HealthUnlocked Thyroid UK forum.

The intention has been to make these posts readily available. They are already accessible, but the HealthUnlocked search facility makes it very difficult to find what you want. And the fact that you only see a short extract of posts makes it even more difficult. By holding the full text of the posts, this document should help in finding what you are looking for.

Some issues have arisen. Most particularly, many of the links have caused problems. HealthUnlocked shortened links do not work so they have all been converted into standard web links. At times, this has needed the links to change.

Some formatting has been changed to make more sense and be usable in a large text document.

Some typos, etc., have been corrected.

Some additional information has been included - such as dates where the text refers to “today”. HealthUnlocked dates display relative to the day of viewing as in “2 years ago”. These are relative to February 2025 but a few specific dates have been added.

The heading of each post is a link to that post on HealthUnlocked. There you can find the original posts and all replies. Most of these posts should be accessible regardless of being a member, logged in, etc. However a few might have been restricted to access by logged in members.

This document doesn’t include any of diogenes’ replies.

This is around 350 pages and inevitably includes mistakes and omissions. Please let me know and they will be corrected.

And this its VERY MUCH a first pass which needs enhancement.

Throughout diogenes’ posts he says that papers have been sent to Louise or Lyn at Thyroid UK so that they can be made available to forum members. I know I received a few, but can  lynmynott confirm that they are available?

If Thyroid UK do not wish to maintain access, for example by links from the Thyroid UK website, I might be able to offer access.

First of all, thanks for doing this!

Unfortunately, research papers were sent to Louise and previous to that, the other Louise. We don't now have access to those emails with the attachments, I'm afraid.

If someone could let me have the titles of the papers, I can ask Carol to look for them but I don't know how long a job that would be as I wasn't involved in this.

Surely things as important as this would have been copied backed up and filed somewhere accessible and secure in the Thyroid UK system and not on a personal device assuming Louise was an employee??

Not nearly as much work as diogenes himself put in.

And it is extremely unfortunate that finding his posts is so very difficult, indeed, pretty much impossible.

OH MY GOSH!! You are a hero. For all the knowledge that would have been buried among the many posts here… and obscured by a glitchy search engine.

Endless thanks to you!

It's a wonderful thing you've done here, helvella. 👏It's just unfortunate that it appears TUK have been...casual with conserving such valuable papers. What an absolute FUBAR 😜

May we please have a pinned post with the details of your hard work, so that it doesn't become lost in the sea of posts?
