Who says your result is too high?
What is the result?
What is the unit of measurement?
The company here in the UK which does Active B12 for the public uses the unit of measurement pmol/L and a reference range of 37.5 - 188. My level in January this year was 162pmol/L and I have no problem with that as it's in range.
I am in Holland. First time I get tested active, its between 19 and 117 as I can see.
Other times b12 was tested which was low than high due to b12 pills but havent taken them since many months.

The most likely reason for the raised active B12 was the supplements.
The time taken to remove B12 from your blood can vary considerably from individual to individual - for most people it takes 3-6 months but for some it can take up to 4 years.
As Seaside Susie says - you should see your doctor if you are concerned that kidney function may be an issue - the tests for liver and kidney function are quite straightforward.
