Hi to everyone. I noticed while peeling onions my eyes were exremelly painful and they also looked different. Off to opticians and they said my eyedrops are not producing the protective "oil". She told me what to buy but the problem is not going away. They stiff and sticky and just horrible. Is this related to Hashi and is there a cure? thank you. I know it's a busy time of year, so any advice is so welcome.
Hashimoto - eye issues: Hi to everyone. I noticed... - Thyroid UK
Hashimoto - eye issues
I have really dry, itchy and often flaky (eww) eyes in the morning. Several eye drops were recommended but some were too thick and sticky. Its definitely a hypo/hashi thing though but finding the right drops can be trial and error. Not sure if I can recommend drops as I'm still experimenting but there are some good ones. (I also have achy eye ball in one eye when I rub my eye) If you saw a G.P you'd get a free prescription if your diagnosed hashis so you could try a few types maybe? Not sure re cure as think it's a come and go with hashis thing?
I would watch for any other changes such as blurry or double vision or pain in back of eyes. Thyroid problems in general tend to cause dry eyes so frequent drops are good but hashimotoes as well as greaves can develop TED ,thyroid eye disease, I hope you never get ted but eyes are well worth a few extra drops a day to keep them comfortable.
I shall do so. Thanks for reply and info. Always appreciated. Bless you!
