Does anyone experience hot flushes?? I have gotten severe hot flushes 3 times in the last month. I’m not sure if this is a reaction to something I have eaten? Or because I have increased my Levo from 100 mcg to 125 mcg. I have just had medicheck full thyroid panel check today so should have results next two days. I’m 39. I have been tested for all the hormonal stuff so I am not pre menapause ( dunno if that’s the right word ) . Any advice / input would be appreciated TIA

Hot Flushes
I have had hot flushes while my thyroid has been inflamed and Hasimotos has been developing It also set my BP all over the place! I am 20 years past the normal age for hot flushes so I think you are on the right lines!
I have hot flashes (I’m hashimotos) I cannot put my finger on any trigger I wish I could as sometimes it’s hard to know what to wear!
have you asked for your actual results? I think an uneccessary increase might be behind my BP problems
Hi Quest2019 , I'm the same, been having hot flushes a lot recently too. There doesn't seem to be a trigger, happens suddenly, like last night I had one when I was reading a book. My face starts to burn up and turns very red, whilst the rest of me stays pretty cold. My hands and feet are randomly turning red and swollen too. I'm 43 and GP thought I might be peri-menopausal but recent tests have showed really high then low levels of oestrogen so that doesn't fit with it.
I had wondered if it was something going bump in the night with my thyroid meds (taking 45mg Erfa and 25md Levo) but it's not a big dose. I'm seeing the endocrinologist today and hoping for a dose increase, will mention the flushes too and see what he says!
Hi
I’m 56 and have hot flushes. They did stop for a while then I have had a rise in Levothyroxine and I’m thinking it is that or it could be the menopause. I can feel cold one minute then sweating the next! So frustrating.
I had a lot of hot flushes just before I was diagnosed with vitaminB 12 deficiency, (caused by my autoimmune Graves, overactive thyroid, I believe).
My hot flushes became really bad when my folic acid levels went very low. Now with supplements they are a lot better although i still get woken up once or twice in the night.
Suggest you get vitamin levels checked as I also had bad hot flushes at night when my folate was low.
Hi. Thank you for message. What Vitamins do you suggest I test? I am having the following tested : Folate - Serum/B12 - Active/Vitamin D. I did stop taking Vitamin A/Selenium only two weeks ago and I do also take - Magnesium/Vitamin K (With the Vitamin D). TIA
Testing B vitamins can get complicated if you have any "methylation mutations". I suck at explaining science but the mthfr, mtr, mtrr and CBS mutations need to be known and factored in to any B vitamin blood tests. And HPU/KPU as well. Sorry to throw out so many abbreviations but it would be easier for you to look them up then for me to explain. But all of those abbreviations helped my thyroid and overall health immensely... immensely!
You seem to have got most of the important vitamins covered but maybe include ferritin as well .
Still get them even though I am past the menopause. They did start in my early 40’s and that was possibly the menopause but could have been for untreated hypothyroidism. I have read it is the mitochondria that are the power houses in every one of our cells that vacillate with too much then too little thyroid hormone hence the all over immediate heat. I am not sure if it’s universally accepted as the reason. I guess a daily tablet is a tad lacking in dynamic response to thyroid hormone need. If you get the right dose it should stop them. I am better in the summer but can go weeks without any boil in the bag moments! You may be at the start of the menopause too which could set them off.
Try some B12. I never tested low (but that's because of what tests are used) and supplements never helped. Then I switched to a nasal B12 spray and now I do injections. Made a huge difference. Although this might be more for night sweats then hot flashes.
Yes! I still have hot flushes! I'm 67 and went through the menopause at 52. I was given estrogen pessaries by my doctor. Worked for about a month and now doesn't seem to make a difference. Any ideas anybody? I'm taking 150mcg levothyroxine. Best wishes, Ruth xxx ☺️
Yes yes and yes. I am 34 and just started them. I am also hypothyroid right now with a 6.1 TSH. Not sure if they’re related or not
I had night sweats for 3 years because of Graves' disease I am now remission and no longer sweaty but I don't sleep much now.
