Testing for TSH, FT3 and Throxine with medichecks

Hello again Administrators

I can't tell you how much more in control I feel after reading these excellent posts and how much more confident I fell about asking for what I need. Medichecks have just told me the following: TSH 1.08 (0.27-4.2), FT3 5.15 (3.1 - 6.8), Throxine 19.5 (12-22). Can you please tell me what that means for my stubborn weight issues? I am seeing the GP this month and I would like to be informed to talk about my weight or any actions that could help me. I have started a Better You Vitamin D+K2 spray today and I am going to source the B complex suggested. Thank you PS I found Medichecks to be swift and efficient.

TSH 1.08 (0.27-4.2),

Throxine 19.5 (12-22).

FT3 5.15 (3.1 - 6.8),

Your FT4 is 75% through it's range and your FT3 is 55% through it's range. The balance could be a bit better. The aim of a hypo patient generally, when on Levo, is for TSH to be 1 or below or wherever it needs to be for FT4 and FT3 to be in the upper part of their reference ranges, if that is where you feel well.

For good conversion we need optimal nutrient levels and as mentioned in reply to your first post on the forum

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

your B12 is on the low side and you should retest 3 months after starting the B Complex, also it was suggested you take 4,000iu D3 daily and again retest after 3 months to check your levels. Don't forget you need magnesium to help D3 work.

Selenium and zinc can help with conversion and some people prefer to test before supplementing with these.

Once all your ducks are in a row, if your conversion is no better then possibly start looking into adding some T3 to your Levo.

Many thanks. I will work on getting the D vits+magnesium and the B12 up then retest after 3 months, s you suggest. Are there daily optimum doses for selenium and Zinc?

"Are there daily optimum doses for selenium and Zinc?"

If you're not going to test then don't go too high. I wouldn't go higher than 100mcg selenium and choose either selenium l-selenomethionine or a yeast bound selenium for best absorption and avoid selenite and selenate forms.

As for zinc, I don't know, I would test mine first. Zinc and copper should be balanced.

How would I test these things and what levels they should be?

Medichecks do them.

I've read that zinc should be around half way through range, I don't know the optimal level for selenium.
