So I feel like I have had Candida for a long time. I was diagnosed with Graves back in February of this year. During that time I was sick and also had this nail fungus that would not grow out. It is long gone now but I am worried.
I have been on a string of antibiotics and even a steroid (Prednisone) over the last 11 months. Makes sense to get Oral Thrush, which I am taking Nystatin for. I have been treated for Candida about 4 weeks ago. Last week was the worst for me. I have also added Oil Of Oregano along with my other vitamins and even follow a Candida diet. I eat a clove of garlic in the morning and I do take a Probiotic to over 50 Billion live probiotic cultures. I am losing weight which has me even more scared, but I can hardly eat anything to gain it!
I am tired all the time. I wake up having to clear my throat. I am itchy around my face. Just feel like I have the flu.
I was going to start a Milk Thistle supplement because I read it is good to help my liver through all of this.
On top of all this, I suffer from severe pain from TMJ. I realized I was grinding my teeth in my sleep causing me pain on one side. My left ear, neck, jaw and shoulder all affected. I did get a mouth guard and using it about a week. I definitely see some improvement but sometimes I take it out in my sleep and have to wake up to find it.
I also had sinus issues on the same side the TMJ affected. I first went to ENT and I was diagnosed with a sinus infection and was put on a very strong antibiotic and a steroid. I thought can I get a sinus infection on one side of my face! I would have never taken the steroid if I knew this would all happen.
The stress is killing me. I order Lavender essential oils and a diffusor to help me combat that side which I am praying helps.
I just feel it never ever ends with me. I cannot get well or feel well no matter how hard I battle.
The Candida Overgrowth is really affecting me now. Any relief or advice on TMJ, Candida is greatly appreciated!
Also just need to add. I had oatmeal today for breakfast GLUTEN FREE and sugar free. Thought would be okay. I think that was a big mistake! Had it with sugar free almond milk and wild blueberries. Today my face is flush, headache, and have double vision. Along with normal nasal drip driving me crazy!
Thank you!

Oatmeal should be excluded while you are trying to take Candida under control.
You need to restore your gut microbiome by eating more raw food - organic celery is perfect, lemons, oranges, grapefruits, watercress, green leafs, avocado etc.
You can do celery smoothies and take on empty stomach first thing in the morning. It will help your liver as well - don’t add any milk - just celery and water.
Anyway, the idea is your first food should be raw food ideally organic on empty stomach.
Good luck! I drink celery (cannot say every morning) but 4-5 times per week and it makes a huge difference for digestion.
You can try to add watercress (which has amazing properties) to celery smoothies if you can tolerate it. For me personally it's too strong in drink, I prefer to eat it in salad.
I did manage to get Candida under control. Unfortunately one of the products I used is no longer available but there are alternatives. I had tried diet numerous times but the sugar cravings were too strong.
I actually got there via TMJ. I read somewhere that TMJ is due to parasites - not tapeworms, but microscopic parasites that we all have but can get out of balance like so much else. And these parasites also feed on candida and 'farm' it! I used a herbal product from a company called Humaworm. But others are available, or the Humaworm formula is available online. I had headaches but no other die off symptoms, and just drank loads and suffered! Killing the parasites meant the candida was no longer in check and my sugar cravings went wild! But two weeks into the candida cleanse (also Humaworm, formula available) my sugar cravings went. I have eaten keto or very near that ever since, and being sugar and almost starch free keeps the candida at bay (and improves numerous other symptoms!)
Thank you so much Ruth! Will definitely research this. Mine all seems to be blending together. TMJ and Candida. I also have Graves Disease which is a thyroid disease. My immune system is way out of whack. I’m desperate for relief!
Also my Endocrinologist has recommenced a GI doc. I’m going to visit one in the coming weeks. Being tested for celiac but I think it’s all Candida. Doctors tend to just think Otal Thrush is contained to my white tongue. However, my symptoms tell me different. I’ve been gluten free, and soy free for months. I am also dairy free for a while too. I eat clean. Hardest is dining out. I just order the boring grilled chicken and steamed veggies. No butter and only tell them olive oil. Who knows what’s happening in the kitchen.
Now in less then two weeks we are taking our kids to Disney World for a week. I’m dreading it. Nothing I can eat. I can’t have a glass of wine at dinner. My neck is another whole issue. Getting an epidural before we go because I had an MRI and have a herniated disc, pinched nerve, and bulging disc in my nec (C-Spine). All affecting my left side of TMJ. Coincidence!!!
I just don’t want to ruin the time for my kids. Been sick since February with Thyroid and now this. With the holidays coming up it is sure depressing to feel so bad all
I developed TMJ earlier this year. Got a mouth guard, had wisdom teeth removed to even my bite but honestly the only thing that helped was botox injections in the jaw. The pain disappeared completely within 2 days. The NHS won’t provide them, I have to pay for my own every few months.
I also find magnesium gel rubbed into the jaw muscles helps to relax them, so that might be worth trying.
It’s an awful condition and so painful. My GP’s advice was just eat soft food! As if that was going to be solution! Definitely worth looking into the botox injections.
