Hey y’all I hope everyone is feeling good today and doing great! I you have read my other list you know I have hashis and I’m still on this journey to feel better. Anyway my question is if it’s safe to donate blood if you have Hashimotos? I donated red blood cells yesterday and I’m still feeling out of it, been drinking water and eating good food high in iron.. please know that even tho I have hashis I had never had problems with vitamin deficiency they are all on optimal ranges. Only vit d was low couple of months ago but it is corrected now. Any thoughts on this? Yesterday was my first time donating blood ever and would like to do this 2 or 3 times a year.

I donated some before diagnosis (I felt dreadful and it was a nightmare getting the blood out very painful) turned out I had very high malaria antibodies despite having my last attack more than 30 years previously. I was deemed unsuitable for blood donation. I understand hypothyroidism does not prevent blood doning why the antibodies for auto immune thyroid disease are thought benign but malaria antibodies are not I don’t know.
