Anyone else struggling to get rid of a cold. I’ve had bad allergies over this summer very congested and for the past 2 months I’ve had either a constant flu or back to back colds. Sneezy, congested, sinus pain etc. It just won’t go away and now has me quite worried :-(

Your results from few months ago showed you were extremely poor converter of Ft4 to FT3

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

FT4 only 48% through range

FT3 only 16% through range

Useful calculator for working % through range

chorobytarczycy.eu/kalkulator

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Ask GP or get tested privately

What vitamin supplements do you currently take?

Getting all four vitamins optimal can help improve conversion

What brand of Levothyroxine are you currently taking?

Do you always get same brand?

Sinus is often lactose or dairy intolerance. Extremely common with Hashimoto's

Can see you have gut issues too on other posts. Did you try strictly gluten free diet?

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/300...

The obtained results suggest that the gluten-free diet may bring clinical benefits to women with autoimmune thyroid disease

nuclmed.gr/wp/wp-content/up...

In summary, whereas it is not yet clear whether a gluten free diet can prevent autoimmune diseases, it is worth mentioning that HT patients with or without CD benefit from a diet low in gluten as far as the progression and the potential disease complications are concerned

restartmed.com/hashimotos-g...

Despite the fact that 5-10% of patients have Celiac disease, in my experience and in the experience of many other physicians, at least 80% + of patients with Hashimoto's who go gluten-free notice a reduction in their symptoms almost immediately.

88% benefit from strictly gluten free diet

thyroidpharmacist.com/artic...

Going gluten free is a strategy that everyone with Hashimoto’s should try. In some cases, we see a complete remission of the condition; in other cases (88% of the time), the person feels significantly better in terms of bloating, diarrhea, energy, weight, constipation, stomach pain, reflux, hair regrowth, and anxiety.

todaysdietitian.com/newarch...

Many clinicians report that eating a gluten-free diet may help improve thyroid function in nonceliac gluten intolerance. “Getting gluten out is primary for patients with Hashimoto’s, even without celiac disease,”

Lactose intolerance is also very common with Hashimoto's

ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/240...

Lactose intolerance was diagnosed in 75.9 % of the patients with HT

read.qxmd.com/read/24796930...

These findings show that lactose intolerance significantly increased the need for oral T4 in hypothyroid patients.

I take 250mcg of activis levothyroxine, daily. I’ve been tested for celiac and it was negative. All blood recently were normal.

Yes most of us test negative for coeliac.

Only 5% are coeliac.

But over 80% with Hashimoto's benefit from strictly gluten free diet.

You won't know, unless you try it

Same applies to dairy free.

What were vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 results and ranges?

There's no such thing as 'normal' where thyroid is concerned. Can you give the actual numbers: results and ranges?

Guidelines on dose of Levothyroxine by weight is 1.6mcg Levothyroxine per kilo of your weight

If you are on much higher dose than this it suggests dairy intolerance or malabsorption in gut

Carrie97 in reply toSlowDragon

So if I was 11st what dose would I be on?

SlowDragon profile image
SlowDragonAdministrator in reply toCarrie97

11st is approx 70 kilo

1.6 x 70 = 112mcg Levothyroxine

Hi Carrie

My daughter and I have suffered for weeks on end with a cough, she for ten weeks and me five weeks and counting😟 There appears to be a virus going around in this region as we are not alone. I've never had a cough like this before. My daughter's cough is finally getting better but mine is persisting. Perhaps the weather has something to do with it! Hope you start to feel better soon.

Best wishes

Caroline
