If you have slept poorly over years and decades as I have there is likely to be little belief that one little pill can make such a difference.
I have been on a 2 year journey with magnesium where I persevered for ages with the spray, made fitful progress it felt like 2 steps forward and one back and so changed to pills - for a long time taking 200 dose.
In the past month I changed to a pill of 500 mg citrate, and it has made a real difference to sleep patterns.
I frequently now get past 6am, on occasion 7am and incredibly on one occasion 7.50am - typically over many years I was up and about between 5.15 to 5.45 (best case) - a 7am waking up a near impossibility
I have no idea how long this will last and it may not work for anyone else but it is so dramatic that I felt duty bound to post on this thread

It's worth pointing out that Magnesium Citrate can have a laxative effect, so anyone who definitely doesn't need help in the bowel department may wish to avoid Mag Citrate and use a different form of magnesium.
I found magnesium citrate very effective. Just speculation, but magnesium regulates smooth muscle (SM) contraction. Too little intracellular magnesium leads to early contraction of SM. The gut and vascular system contain SM. My guess is that by resolving magnesium deficiency you allow the capiliaries in the brain to open up a little giving better blood supply and enabling deeper sleep. Regular exercise will also improve cardiovascular system and so help with sleep.
As pointed out magnesium salts can have an osmotic laxative effect. As your tissue magnesium status improves your gut will reduce its absorption of magnesium which may lead to a laxative effect. In which case simply reduce your dose a little (and save money).
Epsom Salts are magnesium sulphate which is a poorly absorbed form. They do however seem to work, perhaps because you put a lot in the bath and it covers a lot of skin with a decent soaking time.
Thanks - what has surprised me how dose dependent this all is - 200-250 had little to no effect, I read on one site someone taking up to 3000, but I am trying to keep within recommended daily limits.
