Just wanted to share that my Gp just flagged a tsh of 3.14 as abnormal on my patient record - or the lab did, I’m not sure. Either way this is encouraging!
Very grateful as I feel like death!
Also that the BTF have an article coming out about biotin interference; this is significant as it could filter to gps (I’m going to ask them to somehow raise this issue.)

Looking at previous posts you seem to have reduced dose recently
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised (Hashimoto's)
Do you have Hashimoto's?
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and before eating or drinking anything other than water . This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
Is this how you do your tests?
Have you had vitamins tested recently. Many hyper type symptoms can often be attributed to low vitamin levels
What vitamin supplements do you currently take?
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
Hi, yes I reduced as my results were hyperactive and I had some peculiar symptoms. I am breastfeeding and at the time of that test in April had lactational amenorrhea. However I didn’t know about biotin issues then which is in breastfeeding tablets.
By July I was feeling very well and focussed and strong. By August I had had my first period post partum. By mid August tsh was 6.18 and I was starting to struggle. After this I found out about biotin. I may not have taken the tablets before that test as the holidays were hectic.
The dr wanted me to go up by only 12.5 as a full 125 had produced the hyper results; I knew it wasn’t enough. 6 weeks later (this week) tsh is 3.18 and I’m going back up to 125.
What I can’t tell is:
Are my own tests affected by biotin? In which case I may not have been hyper in April. How do I find that out?
Are the body’s thyroid hormone requirements affected by lactational amenorrhea (eg need less when have amenorrhea and more when cycles resume.)?
I can’t find that info anywhere other than there can be issues gaining balance during menopause.
