Having issues with running to the loo constantly. Just wondered if it was connected with levothyroxine

Does anyone have issues with urinary frequency on levothyroxine
Hi, I haven’t noticed that the Levo makes me urinate more. However diuretics such as Furosemide (or natural versions- eg celery/ dandelion) definitely have that effect on me. I’ve also noticed B Complex vitamins make my wee fluorescent! Are you taking any supplements?
No buddy I’m not. Not entirely sure if it’s connected just frustrating I’m trying to avoid caffeine but it’s hard in the morning. I’m not good until I get my coffee lol
Levo has never made me urinate more.
Buddy195 It's B2 - Riboflavin - in the B Complex that makes wee bright yellow
That is a good question!! My Endocrin asked if anything had changed with urine frequency and thirst. And now I have to us cytomel and it seems like I don't go as often. This is a hairy condition. You never know if it is the thyroid or if it is something else. Let me know what happens and take care!
I had bladder problems for years when on Levothyroxine, ranging from urge incontinence to interstitial cystitis and frequent bladder infections. It was what pushed me to make an appointment with Dr Peatfield. Within weeks of coming off Levo and onto T3, nearly 9 years ago, the bladder problems cleared . Since then my bladder returned to being calm, and signalling the need to pee only when full, and what a joy it is to have a proper flow of urine without pain!
Hi There / new to the forum but have experienced much the same - after going on T4 following a partial thyroidectomy (for cancer) I was put on Synthroid (T-4) 100 mcg. I suffer from weird bouts of increased urine output and urgency sometimes having to pee up to 16+ times a night. Needless to say the lack of sleep alone affects my health ... would you please explain in more detail the switch from 9 yrs ago you refer to above - I.e. are you only on T3 or a porcine natural version, etc.? Thanks so much!
Hi. Just a note with caffeine intolerance. How about looking into juicing in the mornings. I use grapefruit and beets, which gives me energy without caffeine fallout.
Hi, I have noticed that I have days where I am going frequently and others when it's not as much. I also have MS and worry that is causing bladder problems. It's more so since I started Levo though.
Anecdotally I thought my bladder challenges might be linked to thyroid problem but not levo. This was because when I look over 4 year cycle there seemed to be a pattern however could not find much to support it. I tried ditching coffee and going to decaf but it made little difference so I landed on one cup a day in morning as my limit and focusing on exercise. There are so many factors which could affect bladder that I gave up considering though less alcohol seems to help. Id sooner limit alcohol than coffee.
