Hi spoke to Q.E pharmacy and they telling me Teva is the only brand that gets sent to them and that i should speak to endo to give me some thing for heartburn n flux. But my local pharmacy said he can order me some. So need to get back in touch with endo to ask for prescription thought it's going to get easier but feel like I keep hitting a brick wall, dont feel good at all.
No luck: Hi spoke to Q.E pharmacy and they... - Thyroid UK
No luck
You can take your prescription to any pharmacy. Ring around your area and find an independent pharmacy who are not tied into a supplier contract. Ask if they can supply the 'brand' of your choice. You could select from Actavis, Mercury Pharma or Wockhardt. If selecting Actavis, they don't do 25mcg so you may need to alternate daily dose depending on your script but this is not a problem, however the doc might need to write clear instructions so pick the brand, check pharmacy can supply and then get the prescription written up accordingly.
For example, if you need 75mcg of levo then you will take 100 mcg one day and 50mcg the next in order to average out the dose to 75 mcg daily when taking Actavis.
Hi Nanaedake, the issue was the hospital was making me pick up the liothyronine from the hospital pharmacy so i went to the hospital and have asked the Endo's secretary for just a prescription explained to her i couldn't take the Teva brand and my local pharmacy can order some in a different brand. She said she would write to my gp. I managed to get hold of some T3 unipharma this was before my endo agreed to trial it. that was working really well but unfortunately can't get hold of them anymore. So because I've been told by endo to reduce my levo to 75 mcg how much lio will I need to take to make up the 75 as I've been told lio is alot stronger than levo?
And Thank you for replying to first post.
I am confused.
Is it Teva Levothyroxine or Teva Liothyronine that you get from the Q.E pharmacy and want to get away from? Nanaedake has replied for Levothyroxine but your mention of Unipharma T3 seems to conflict with that.
Hi I'm already on levothyroxine have been for past 25years but it's never made me feel any better, I think my T4 is not converting into T3 that's why I feel unwell all the time, I was initially diagnosed with thyroid graves disease then couple years ago hashimoto's. So coming on here and discovering that there is other medication that does actually work was like a god sent, but my endocrinologist was not having any of it, long story short finally got her to agree because I told her I trailed the T3 privately and it worked wonders, I wanted to make a point before she shut me down again, and it worked. She said to take 25mcg of the T3 with 50mcg with levothyroxine as I was taking 125 of levothyroxine before but she reduced it to 75 as she said my range was too high. So the T3 I trailed privately was a brand from unipharma which privately I cannot get anymore, but It was absolutely great loved it no side effects no tiredness alert fresh. I hope that explains it a bit better.. get alot of brain fog think Something in my head and in wrighting it comes out differently ..lol
Sorry you asked me something and I've just told you almost the whole story ..lol get carried away ..The Teva is The T3 liothyronine which my endocrinologist prescribed. And the one I trailed privately (T3) was from the brand unipharma. I hope it's helped you understand..
That's OK.
So what you really need is to be able to get Mercury Pharma (Accord) or Morningside (Iraksin) liothyronine instead of Teva.
It might be possible to get Unipharma. I don't buy T3 so am not a good person to ask.
