Blood test advice for vitamins & minerals

Thank you so much to the person that messaged about the half price thyroid 15 blood test from Blue Horizon, I bought one immediately.

Not only do I want to see my thyroid levels but I want to know what levels of vitamins & minerals are in my body while taking my supplements to see whether I need to take more or less of them. I’ve read you should stop supplements a week or so before doing your test but I don’t understand how it would show accurately what levels are in my body if I stop them a week beforehand. Can someone please advise?

You only stop biotin or B Complex containing Biotin. This is because biotin is used in the testing procedure and if you also take Biotin it will give false results. Also iron if you are taking it. The others just don't take on the day until after the test.

You need to stop iron supplements for 7 days as well. It can make ferritin and iron look better than they really are if iron has been taken recently.

Hi humanbean, I’ve never taken an iron supplement in my life! Thanks for replying though 👍

Thanks Human Bean, I don’t take iron supplements just the B’s, selenium, vit D, zinc, vit C, l-glutamine, probiotics & collagen. I’ll stop the B’s a few days before as it does have biotin in it.
