Are you currently on Levothyroxine or trying to get get diagnosed
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
Research suggests endometriosis may be more common in patients that's have autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's)
So important to test thyroid antibodies and vitamins
I've been unwell since Easter with under active thyroid type symptoms. The first blood test was to rule out early menopause and to see if it was the thyroid. The hormone one came back ok but the TSH was 2.36 ft4 showed 8.9 so just under the 9.0 to 20.
Doc asked for bloods to be repeated 6 weeks later which show the tsh 2.5 and ft4 9.3
I was wondering if HRT can affect the blood results as since the first bloods I have started on hrt and zoladex.
I'll be making an appointment to see the Doc as I feel worse than when I first saw her 7 weeks ago.
Ft3 wasn't tested but I'll certainly ask her about it and the other ones you've mentioned. Failing that I'll go down the route with the finger prick testing.
