Hi, can anyone recommend a Endocrinologist ( private ) in the Notts / Derby area ?
Need one to advise / agree dosage of T3 as local NHS consultant dismissed my need of it when approached by my GP. Have been on Levothyroxine 125 MCG for 15 years but suffer from being tired, weight gain, mood swings and brain fog.

tukadmin@thyroiduk.org
If you post your latest test results on the forum, with their reference ranges, members will comment and you may save yourself the cost of seing a private endo. Test results needed for a full picture are
TSH
FT4
FT3
Thyroid antibodies
Vit D
B12
Folate
Ferritin
Optimal nutrient levels are necessary for thyroid hormone to work properly and low levels or deficiencies bring their own symptoms which can overlap with symptoms of hypothyroidism.
No need to ask GP, they don't like us understanding and knowing things. Just ask at the reception desk for a print out, it's our legal right in the UK to have our test results, and they can't charge. I just walk in, ask and it's in my hand one minute later, no questions asked, and handed over with a smile. Not everyone is so lucky, sometimes receptionists like to think they have control over us!
ALWAYS getting FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing BEFORE seeing any specialist Thyroid endocrinologist, but especially if paying for private consultation
For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested.
Also EXTREMELY important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12
Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised
Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)
Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).
Is this how you do your tests?
Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins
Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random
If you have results and ranges add them here
If you need testing done come back with new post once you get results and ranges
Welcome to the forum! If you can post some recent results with the ranges that may be may give a better idea of what to do next. The ranges are important as they vary from lab to lab.
