Soy milk and levothyroxine

I had my thyroid removed 8 years ago. Since then I have taken 100mg daily, sometimes 125mg on two of the days in a week without much problem.

Recently I have changed my diet to low carb, no sugar, no processed foods, no pastry. Increased greens such as Kale, Broccoli, Spinach. I have also stopped taking milk in cereals (due to lactose intolerance) and now use Soy Milk. After 8 weeks I am getting hypo symptoms - very tired, fuzzy head, feeling of not being right.

I read somewhere that Soy products can interfere with the uptake of levothyroxine, even if Soy is taken at different time to levothyroxine. Can anyone confirm this?

I will try Almond Milk over next few weeks to see how it goes.

I will also get blood checked.

It's not that soy interferes with with the uptake of levo in the gut. If it did, taking them at different times would work. But, what soy does is work at a cellular level, and impedes the uptake of thyroid hormone by the cells.

In any case, unfermented soy is nasty stuff. It's not real food. No-one should use it, but especially not hypos.

I use Koko coconut milk.

Thanks guys - I'll try coconut milk and avoid soy milk altogether.
