The heat and hypo?

How's everyone coping in the heat? Is everyone a balloon like I am? I weighed myself yesterday and in the space of 24hrs I had gained 1.2kgs. My ankles and lower half of my body and have ballooned and my jeans and shoes are so tight. I have to keep on drinking water or it gets worse. I love the heat but it seems to be really affecting me this year. And short of putting a pin in me I am not sure what to do.

Does everyone else experience this?

Don't know about everyone else - probably not - but my legs swell terribly in the heat. And I've been trying everything I can think of but not found anything that helps. I shall read replies with interest to see if anyone else has found a solution. :)

😔 That does not sound good. Are you on optimal meds? I’ve enjoyed everything about the sun and the heat, although my white Irish skin did burn a little. No real swelling though maybe a little on my feet but that’s probably everyone, I’m no longer Hypo so maybe that helps 🤷‍♀️

Before being diagnosed with Hashimotos back in 2005 my ankles would be so swollen on flights and on holiday in hotter climes. I would put elastic bandages in the fridge in the day and bind the ankles for sleep. It did help and it felt more comfortable. On moving to Crete in 2004 this problem continued and increased. It also happened if I sat too long over lunch with pals - so I blamed the wine ! For many years now it very rarely happens which I attribute to a healthier body on T3. Hope you find some relief soon. 😊

It's the heat. I can gain nearly 2kg overnight in this current batch of hot weather. It will drain off...eventually *sigh*.

I left the UK on 19 July headlong into the German heatwave whereupon my whole body seemed to balloon and my face was so swollen I was looking like a hamster. A summer top I usually wear with ease was destined for the bin as there was a two to three inch gap so any attempt to button it up was impossible.

Ten days of water-drinking, moderate walking, incessant loo visits and further heat later I can now button up the top. Bizarre.

Any tiny whiff of heat (esp with humidity) and I can feel my body swelling - and I'm sure excessively so, compared with most people. My GP is unsympathetic, merely telling me that she has the same problem. I don't think so....

I couldn't believe it and my friends couldn't believe the size of my feet yesterday. I haven't had swollen legs and feet like that since pregnancy. My meds need a review as my T4 and T3 are down and I am waiting for my endo appt.
