I just had some tests by Medicheck privately as I have most of the symptoms of hypothyroidism and I feel really dreadful all the time.

Please can anyone give me some advice re the results?

TSH 1.04

Free T3

Free Thyroxine 9.7

Thanks everyone

Are you as yet undiagnosed or do you have a diagnosis and on thyroid hormone replacement?

Can you please add the result for FT3, also the reference ranges as they vary from lab to lab.

Did you just have that basic test or a full thyroid panel or thyroid/vitamin panel?

Thanks for your reply. I am undiagnosed and not taking any meds for it.

These are the only results I had.

I had a full bank of bloodwork done by the gp recently and everything was ok.

I did have my thyroid levels tested by the gp last year which were ‘borderline’ so I was not given medication.

There will be reference ranges with your Medichecks results, eg

TSH: 1.04 (0.2-4.2)

You haven't put a result for the FT3 test.

So you did just a Thyroid Monitoring test which is just TSH, FT4 and FT3?

Please add your GP tests that were "borderline" - result plus reference range.

I have an idea what your Medichecks results suggest but can't say until ranges/FT3 result added and compare them to GP results/ranges.

Hi

Just managed to get the results from Feb this year that the gp ordered...

Serum TSH level 1.79miu/L (0.27-4.2)

Serum free T4 level 12.7 pmol/L

The Medichecks test was the Thyroid Check Plus last week.

It also showed Thyroglobulin antibodies were <10

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies were 9.34

I hope this makes sense?

Sorry but I am not very sure fait with thyroid readings.

Thank you

We always need reference ranges please, as mentioned ranges vary from lab to lab.

Serum TSH level 1.79miu/L (0.27-4.2)

Serum free T4 level 12.7 pmol/L

Do you have the reference range for the Free T4 result for this test? As this is your GP's test, if they've given the range for TSH there will also be a range for the Free T4. Make sure you don't mix your GP's ranges up with the Medichecks ranges.

**

The Medichecks test was the Thyroid Check Plus last week.

It also showed Thyroglobulin antibodies were <10

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies were 9.34

Your antibodies are negative for autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's). If you look at the results they sent you it will say

Thyroglobulin antibodies <10 and the range will be <115 so less than 115 is negative.

Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies 9.34 and the range will be <34 so less than 34 is negative.

TSH 1.04

Free T3

Free Thyroxine 9.7

Can you please confirm the ranges Medichecks used and give us the Free T3 result which you have missed out, with it's range, and the range for the Free Thyroxine please. I use Medichecks but it's important that you confirm the ranges. I have an idea what the problem is but wont say until ranges have been confirmed and the Free T3 result added.

Hi

Can I send you the screen shots of the test results from the gp and Medichecks?

Is there an e mail address please?

I am so muddle headed at the moment.

Sorry to be so frustrating

Thanks,

Wendy

I'm afraid there's no email address and screenshots can't be put into private messages.

You can add one photo in the first post in a thread.

All you can do is go back to your first post in this thread, edit it and add one picture there.

How to edit a post:

* Go to your first post and at the bottom of it click on the downward arrow next to MORE.

* Click on EDIT and that will show your post.

* Scroll down past what you originally wrote in the message box and you will see

ADD A PHOTO

* Click on ADD A PHOTO and you can upload your picture from there.

Only one picture is allowed, it needs to be big enough to be readable and please do not show any personal details such as name, date of birth, etc (to protect you from identity theft).

* Once you have added your photo click on EDIT RESPONSE (or whatever wording is in the box).

It may be easier to just type the results. All you need is to copy the name of the test, result and reference range as shown above, and say if it's GP or Medichecks results.

Can you add the ranges on these results

Also you left out the FT3 result

FT4 looks low

Previous tests by GP

Can you type in results and ranges For TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies if these were tested.

Also important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12. Were any of these tested? Add results and ranges if you have them

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

If antibodies are high this is Hashimoto's, (also known by medics here in UK more commonly as autoimmune thyroid disease).

About 90% of all primary hypothyroidism in Uk is due to Hashimoto's.

Low vitamins are especially common with Hashimoto's. Food intolerances are very common too, especially gluten. So it's important to get TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested at least once .
