T3 increase or not ?

Hi I’ve been taking 100 T4 & 12.5 T3 since early June and feeling really well , these past couple of weeks started feeling tired again , I usually split my dose , so thought I would take it in one dose to see if it made any difference, it didn’t , not due to see Endo until mid August, do you think I should up my T3, by another 6.25 ? If I do and it doesn’t make me feel better , will it it make a massive difference to my bloods this close to my appointment? Also because my T4 dropped quite a lot when I started T3 do you think it could be my T4 is still too low ?

I was looking through posts and saw this. Sorry no one has replied.

I’ve only been on T3 added to my levo since March, so I’m still figuring this out too but in my experience, an increase in T3 would take around three days to kick in so you’d feel an improvement (hopefully!) quite quickly.

To my knowledge, it takes about the same time to get out of your system so you could do a very short trial.

The problem with that would be that it can take weeks to stabilise so whatever you felt might only be short lived.

If I were you I’d try it. See how you feel and go into the endo and tell them - hopefully you feel a lot better! Then again hopefully your bloods would back it up.

Just my inexperienced opinion, hopefully others will see your post and reply too 😉

Thank you for replying, because I had no response and was feeling rubbish I added another 6.25 to my morning dose and nearly a week in I’m feeling a lot better , my Endo originally told me to work up to 20mgr so I’m sure he will be fine with it and I am buying my own T3 at the moment , fingers crossed it will continue 🤞x

I’ve found that I feel great for about three weeks after an increase, then it tails off again.

I’m just not sure how long I can keep doing that for!

I’m waiting on bloods but I think my T4 is a bit low now - just a gut feeling. So who knows where I go after this!

Good luck 😉

Mmm, yes. This time the muscle weakness is back again (normal) but my thyroid is swollen and that normally happens when my levo needs adjusting.

I’m thinking because it’s been about 5 months since I started T3 that maybe now my levo needs a little increase.

I’ll check the bloods and see. Thanks for your reply though, I think gut instinct counts for an awful lot!

Post your FT4, FT3 , TSH before and after you added T3

After I added T3 my T4 dropped to 14 from 21 and T3 stayed exactly the same , that was with a reduced thyroxine from 100 to 75 , have increased thyroxine back up , so bloods 18th August .

I know it feels difficult but I would wait till I saw the endo in Aug, just because of the timescale. I did actually raise my T3 before I saw my Private endo because I wasn’t planning on seeing him for another 6wks after the increase. So I knew I’d have been stable. Also I wouldn’t increase without a blood test, which I’m guessing you’ll get at your appointment or get a blood test done at your GP before you go so that you have facts and figures to talk about along with your symptoms
