Total frustration at lack of progress with T4 and GP (UK)

Well, I am going for my next set of blood tests with Medichecks (simply because I can't trust my GP to order them all and secondly because he is not thyroid specialist trained) I told him that the TSH is a load of codswallop and was archaic means of accurately measuring the thyroid function...Said that he would, hesitantly, refer me to the endo (NHS endo, I don't think so...he/she will still be controlled with the noose that is N.I.C.E!)

Last time I went to a 'private' endo, she offered to increase my T4 so that my TSH went down...Er, pardon, I'm already on 200mcg per day...Every other GP/consultant I have spoken to have said that is way too much already.

Sorry for the rant....but please can someone wake up the medical establishment and drag them into the 21st century!!

Actually, dosing by the TSH is not archaic, it's quite a modern concept. And, even if the GP does order FT4/FT3 the lab often refuse to do it.

Some people need 200 mcg levo. You cannot judge a dose by the number of mcg, but by the FT4/3 results and the way people feel. So, if those GPs/specialists didn't take those thing into consideration, they were wrong. :)
