following on from my post “ May test results” from 6th June, I decided to stop taking levothyroxine.

I suspect my partial thyroid is probably making more thyroxine than I thought as my results were over range.

So for the last couple of weeks I’ve just taken 1 and a half grains of NDT and I feel ok.

No more jitteryness, very few palpitations, brain fog manageable.

Joint pain is still there as are the flushes, in fact this is what I’m hoping you can advise me on.

Surely at my age, 61, the flushes can’t be linked to menopause?

I’m sure someone advised a cortisol test would shed some light, am I remembering correctly ?

Thanks for reading

After a partial thyroidectomy I believe it is normal for the remaining tissues to restart and produce sufficient hormones for normal life. BUT, this may take some time; mine took 3 months to do so.

I would suggest you slowly reduce your medications to zero and give you remaining thyroid something to do as it will never regenerate if you leave it nothing to do.

You could easily slow down or stop your reduction efforts if you encounter any problems, but it is such a relief if you don't have to take any unnecessary medicines.
