Acid taste

Hi, does anyone here have an acid taste in the mouth in between meals? I don’t have acid reflux or indigestion and don’t get it every day. Also doesn’t appear to be food or drink related.

Hiya I’ve had that and it can be either sinus drip down the back of the throat through a virus or allergy or a bad tooth.

Both of those gave me that horrible taste.

I’ve not got acid reflux and have that horrible taste 🤣🤣🤣 when will it end lol

There's quite a few different causes other than GERD - supplements containing minerals or metals, some meds such as antibiotics, menopause/low oestrogen, fluctuating hormones in the first trimester of pregnancy, stress/anxiety stimulating the stress response in the body which can alter sense of taste, dental cavities/infection/ gum disease, and there's even a temporary phenomena of pine nut syndrome which becomes apparent 3 or so days after eating pine nuts (so the link may be missed), but which eventually goes away.

Perhaps you need full Thyroid and vitamin testing to see where your levels are?

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 plus both TPO and TG thyroid antibodies tested. Also extremely important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Low vitamin levels are extremely common, especially if Thyroid antibodies are raised

Have you ever had thyroid antibodies tested?

Vitamin levels need retesting annually as minimum

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Do you always get same brand of Levothyroxine?
