Teva and acid

Has anyone had any acid problems since taking Teva. I've been really bad for the last few months and it's really affecting my breathing, I'm under investigation at the moment. A respiratory specialist said its not my lungs and nothing asthma related but he thinks it's higher up and to do with acid and I have noticed I am really suffering with acid. Anyone any ideas or could you tell me what side effects you did have on Teva,

Hi Angela C66

You could ask your GP for a small course of omeprazole and some Gaviscon !! It really does help and stick to a bland diet no fatty foods no alcohol !

I know it sounds a very boring diet but it does work for me as I suffer with acid reflux and it works for me !

I hope you feel better soon 😀 Kazbe

Hiya Kazbe Thankyou for the reply. I've just been on Omeprazole twice a day and gaviscon 4 times a day for a month it's not helped in anyway, just made my stomach feel swollen and in fact it seemed to make the acid worse also. So GP told me to stop them until I see Gastro Doctor. I was just wondering if it might be the Teva. I will change brands and see if there is any difference

Hi yes definitely change from Teva they made me have unpleasant side effects funny tingly tongue, sweating , palpitations etc so I changed to Mercury Pharma and these seem much better 😀 It's worth trying a new brand lots of people on here have side effects with Teva ! Hope you soon feel better x

Have you considered it could be low stomach acid as this causes reflux and alot of us hypos have low stomach acid. I take apple cider vinegar for my reflux and it works a treat so maybe worth a try. I had to change from teva brand as I got terrible palpations on it so good idea to try another brand and see if that makes any difference.

Hi Raventhorpe, No I've never even thought of this but tbhI didn't even know about this. I did buy a probiotic that was £48 for 30 tablets but dosnt seem to have made any difference either. How do I take the Apple Cider vinegar and when. I usually take my thyroid meds between 3 & 5am. Is it the Aspall organic Cider vinegar I have some of that in the cupboard it says for dressings, sauces and marinades. . Wouldn't the GP or the Endo pick up on this. And I get palpitations anyway with perrimenopause etc. Thankyou for your reply really appreciated

Hi Angela c66 it is raw apple cider vinegar with the mother and I take 1tsp of this with 1tsp of lemon juice in half a glass of water about 15 mins before eating,( it puts back the acid that your not making). You can do this before every meal if you like but I've found I only need to do this once a day before my dinner. I also fined if I do get indigestion I take this and it goes within 20 mins. I was on omeprazole for years until I found this forum and found out how bad for the gut it is so weaned myself off and my stomach has been so much better since.

Hi, people keep mentioning low stomach acid. Why do I feel like I've got loads of acid. I keep having to take rennies all the time. The acid feels like it's gurgling in my throat. I eat and I get acid I don't eat and I get acid. It's that bad it's effecting my breathing.

When we have low stomach acid it is difficult ti break down foods into smaller amounts for the onward journey into the duodenum. As a result food remains in the stomach for too long and begins to ferment. The upward movement of fermentation causes the acid feelings.

I was on new formula Teva and under medicated.

When TSH tested and dose increased to 150 over 4 months, I got really bad sore throat.

Long story short, visited my family and forgot my medication. Local chemist re issued prescription and was given Actavis..

Sore throat disappeared over night. Needless to say I am now on Actavis only..

Hi AngelaC66

I know your post was 9 months ago but I just have to send you a message. Basically I want to thank you for bringing to my attention that teva gives you acid. I have suffered with acid myself for years, even before I started taking levothyrixine, but it was just when I had overindulged 😁 which I think is quite normal. I have been taking Levo now for about 18 months and my acid has gradually become constant to the extent that I know what food I could eat that didn’t give me acid. I didn’t want to take antacids as I’d read that they can inhibit the effect of your medication, so I soldiered on and basically I just got used to it but when I read your post I checked my Levo and found that I did take the teva brand so I thought I’d give it a try and to my amazement my acid subsided. It took a few days and was a bit less each day, now I have been teva free for about 2 weeks and I’m also now acid free, so this post is to say thanks and that I hope you also don’t suffer with acid any more
