Thyroid Testing Rant

How are we supposed to manage our thyroid conditions when our health care providers cant tell us what is right. My IVF clinic has stated my thyroid is to be monitored by my GP, my GP has just called with my results and asked me to call my clinic for advice as he believes im over medicated but wants to leave any dose changes to them.

Labs

TSH 0.04 (0.35-5.00)

FT4 17.4 (9.0-21.0)

I'll get a full medichecks test done within the next week as these 2 numbers alone are not giving me enough to go on. He said if I wasnt pregnant he woukd advise dropping my dose.

Im at a loss. Do I continue on current dose of Levothyroxine or do I drop it back to pre pregnancy level until my Medichecks is done? I do feel my heart rate is increased but im also on steriods/blood thinners and im pregnant so who knows.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well, your free T4 is well in range and they haven't done a free T3. No reason there to drop dose. I would wait for full thyroid test results

Definitely stay on current dose and get FULL Thyroid and vitamin testing

Recommended on here that all thyroid blood tests should ideally be done as early as possible in morning and fasting. This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip, best not mentioned to GP or phlebotomist)

Last Levothyroxine dose should be 24 hours prior to test, (taking delayed dose immediately after blood draw).

Private tests are available. Thousands on here forced to do this as NHS often refuses to test FT3 or antibodies or all vitamins

Medichecks Thyroid plus ultra vitamin or Blue Horizon Thyroid plus eleven are the most popular choice. DIY finger prick test or option to pay extra for private blood draw. Both companies often have special offers, Medichecks usually have offers on Thursdays, Blue Horizon its more random

Medichecks currently have an offer on until end of May - 20% off

You don't want to reduce dose when pregnant
